Mr Jengles asked for one thing a portable dvd player because sometimes he was stuck in the Mo bay airport parking lot for hours. I bought it for him and he used it to play movies for the tourists on the bus ride to Ochi. He wanted a cellphone and sent me the money western union. that was it.

I would constantly ask him if he wanted anything and the answer was consisently no. No clothes believe me I tried. He could really care less about clothes. No money. I offered to bring his mother something from here and she asked a dress. He only heard her asking for the dress didn't know I offered and told her off. I buy nice stuff for holidays.

He has this mentality that the woman stays home and the man works. He is SLOOOOWLY getting into the team thing.

He is a gentleman.

My experience is very much like yours. I know that God worked a miracle for me.LOL

Me too. Damien is a gentleman. He takes me out for "date night" every payday. And do me little things all the time...like run my bath water, make my lunch, buy me flowers, shoes and support my Carols Daughter comestics addiction :help:

Damien still won't let me do things for him...it drive me nuts sometimes. When he got his first job...he called one of his friends in JA to send him money for bus fare

1. Carol's Daughter ROCKS!!! For the umpteenth time I am trying to go natural and that is my excuse for a PANTRY of the stuff. Now they sell it directly across from my bus stop (Sephora)! :crying:

2. on the bus fare thing. Our men are something else. God bless 'em. I call it Cari-Pride. Let's consider it a good thing.

I struggle with the natural hair thing too. I almost made it to a year before I gave in to a texturizer...now I'm starting all over again. Carol's Daughter hair products don't do much for me. But I love Carol's Daughter shower gel, perfume, body souffle, love butter, lip butter, face wash and moisture, etc.

Oh! Carols Daughter is for your hair? U thought it was makeup. I need to look into that. Cause I am still trying to figure out the best way to wear my hair natural too. I usually leave in conditioner after I wash, but that ends up making my hair waaaayy to soft but I need some sort of product left in my hair after I wash it so that the curls form and stay without getting all frizzy. help!!!

Marlita - definitely look into her hair products www.carolsdaughter.com. The shampoo, conditioners, hair smoothie and hair milk are nice products. I just haven't figured out the best daily routine. One thing for sure, my hair smells so good.

JaEnglish (with the baby who ah steal mi heart...Lawd him sweet ): Before we got married, Aaron never asked me for anything. When I moved back to JA in 99, things hit my family hard with my dad losing his job and my stepmother being diagnosed with cancer (she died a year before we got married). Aaron used to give me lunch money, pay for my school books, give me gas money for the car. When I moved back to the States, he used to send me money if I was short one month. When God blessed me with a better job, if he needed anything, I would never hesitate to give it to him. When they fell behind on the mortgage on his parent's home, I had a life insurance policy that my dad cashed in for me and I gave them all that money to get caught up. He has done so much for me, that I will never hesitate to do ANYTHING for him. I remember when I wasn't able to pay my tuition one year, he went and got a loan from NCB to pay for my last semester in school. I thank God that I got a man that I can work with and build our lives together. He just wants a job so that he can start supporting his family, he says everyday.

And that, simply put, IS LOVE......

My husband always cusses me because I'll look at a photo and make my mind up, I saw REAL love in that photo of you and him, and I also saw your husband is a MAN....

I asked those people I did about love, because in my opinion, they have strong, productive, genuinely healthy relationships and I already knew the answer without being told or knowing much about their relationships....

Hey y'all

Thanks to Yardie for starting part #5.:thumbs: You sure are smart. :jest::jest::jest:

We sure can talk. In regards to the previously asked question (though not directed at me), Mike is a gentleman by all means. Yeah, I take him things and he accepts them and is very greatful, but he has never asked me for anything. I sent him money once and he was like, "What is this for?". I told him to do whatever he wanted to do with it. When I went ot Ja last month, he drew the money our of the bank and handed it to me. It brought tears to my eyes. I gave it back to him and we spent it together on ourselves. When I was leaving he went out and shopped for things for me to bring back home. I told him he did not have to do that and he said, "you bring things for me that I did not ask for, so why can't I give you something to bring back home?" I am paying his Visa fee because I want to. He does not know that I am. I told his father I wanted to and he told me it was okay with him. I plan to send whatever I can to help him with the expenses he will be incurring. I consider this a small investment for someone who I want to spend the rest of my life with. :dancing::dancing::dancing::dancing:

That's beautiful...and in my mind indicative of a gentleman....

Where did you ask about love, JAE?

I am so stupid to ask this question. This is totally off topic. My husband needs a pedicure really bad! Do men get pedis. He had a cracked heel when he came from Jamaica and it has since got better But his toes and foot bottom needs work.Should I bring him to the nail store or buy those foot spas and do it myself . I want to surprise him. Thanks Ladies

yes they get pedicures...he might be a bit self conscience or but the stuff should be cheap at the beauty supply store, the (hard) file, buffer etc

Hey 1luv.

I agree - if money is an issue then do it at home. The products in the beauty supply store are cheap and it's fun and romantic...unless you need a jack hammer like Myra's feet on Martin

Damien and I had pedicures together twice before our trips to JA. The nail shop I go to has a few regular men customers so he's feel comfortable.

Welcome to the Yardie thread :luv: My husband has gotten pedicures since he came here. No big deal. He would get them more often if money weren't an issue! There's a few ladies and one man working at the nail salon. He just won't let the man near his feet  As long as it's a woman, he's fine!

As far as pedicures go, we haven't done that yet. But, he is a bit of a product #######. When Andre came to St. Louis, he all kinds of skin issues. He did fine during the summer; but the cold, dry winter nearly did him in. It's taken a lot of trial and error to figure out what worked best on his body, his face, his hair. I think we have it down to a science now.

His feet seemed to kind of heal themselves. I think part of it was putting the thick lotion on before putting on socks. And part of it was that he now wears shoes and sometimes socks a lot more then he used to.

Hey 1luv,

I would take a 'US' day...treat both you and him to pedicures. It may be a nice experience for both of you.

I know I intend to do that with Ken...AS SOON AS HE REACHES...cause I LOVE my Boo, ...but his feet are JACKED-UP!!!!:lol:

Blessed,

Gill

Hey Deyoungting

I want to do that but $$ is a factor right now.

U guys gotta teach me how to be romantic I am slackin in that dept.

OK, then give him a home pedicure...he'll love it!! I did it for Ken and he lost his mind!! Soak his feet in tub basin or hell take a nice bath together. Then put water in a basin, have him soak his feet and use some of the dry skin softener you find in a nail/beauty store and the heel scrubber/scrapper (invest in a good one) and get to work...then put some African Shea Butter...REAL AFRICAN SHEA BUTTER (it's a thick yellow paste). A all natural herb shop should have if not, an African populated negihborhood grocer.

After you smear the shea butter on wrap his feet in cling wrap and put socks over it. If he can sleep in the socks over night...you should see a difference the next day...if not keep repeating at least once a week.

Good luck,

Gill

Yeah, Tony's feet were pretty messed up when he first came here. It was from working in salt water all the time on the boat and not wearing any shoes or socks all day long. I swear, his feet are so tough he could walk on broken glass and not feel it! He laughs at me cause my feet are so sensitive!

Did you go through this?.........I don't know if it was the hot water or what; but Andre's first few showers....the water was just dark as could be. Like he was washing years of sand and dust out of his skin.

Like I said, maybe it was the use of cold water all his life.

I was kind of like EEEEWWWWWWWWW for a while. I know he took showers every day in JA, so all I can figure is the cold water as opposed to the hot water.
