CENOMAR - Question for Recent K-1 Interviewees

Hello all,

I have read conflicting information as to whether the CENOMAR certificate of singleness is even required at all at the interview. For those of you who just were recently interviewed, was it required by the embassy pre-screener or interviewer? If it was, do they expect it to be dated no less than 1 year ago or 6 month ago? If they did look at yours, when was your CENOMAR dated?

Additionally, how about the birth certificate? I know it is required, but how old was yours? Did it need to be dated within the last 6 months or year or does it not matter even if it is 20 years or more old?

Thanks all.

Not a K1! As long as the BC is NSO and on SECPA it's good indefinitely.

CENOMARs one year but better to update if close to expiration.

Some prescreeners ask for it. Some don't. Case by case basis. Older beneficiarys tend to be asked for it more. Ones with children also.

People claim that USEM does random CENOMAR checks also as there is a LOT of fake ones.

Bottomline is since it's asked for for K1s. Get one.

You can order them online! Additional BCs also.

K1 denied, K3/K4, CR-1/CR-2, AOS, ROC, Adoption, US citizenship and dual citizenship

!! ALL PAU!

ITS A REQUIREMENT..so you MUST have a copy of it..

when I received my Packet 4, a note was attached to the front page, stating that CENOMAR IS A REQUIREMENT.

I got my CENOMAR online & the date was 3 weeks before my interview date.. better to get NBI & CENOMAR a month before the interview date.

Thanks to all who replied. This note is exactly what I was looking for because it is not listed on the embassy web site, scanned copies of Packet 4's I have seen, nor mentioned in Sheriff Uling's guide (at least not that I saw). Many have actually said that the embassy runs their own checks and doesn't trust the ones people bring anyway so there was an argument not to waste time getting one, but since you are saying your package had a note attached concerning it, that would be enough to prove the need. It would be helpful if you or someone else who recently received a note saying that would scan it in and give it to Sheriff Uling so he can add it to the Packet 4 example.

Same here. I did also get a small note requiring CENOMAR other than the appointment letter, instructions, and forms. I got NBI clearance last week - 3 months before the interview. CENOMAR - a month before the interview - it took 1 week for me before i had it in hand. BIRTH CERTIFICATE - I got 1 copy in March and another 1 in October but there's no difference at all - doesn't matter how long u get it before the interview as long as it's in security paper. GOOD LUCK TO YOU ESPECIALLY TO UR SO.

Only 1 copy each is required. BUT! get more copies of BC cuz you will be needing it in the later process in the US like AOS.
