Hello,

I wonder if someone who already received their visa can advise -

My Russian name, as usual, consist of First Parental and Las names.

When I entered the US first time, I did not know what Middle name was, and I entered my Parental name there.

So my name appears on my Social Security Card, as (example) Olga Ivanovna Petrova.

Since then I did not use my Parental name on any documents and my name appears in my passport as Olga Petrova. I skipped middle name altogether.

So now I am filling out my DS-230 part II.

Q26 - 28.

Is this correct way of answering?

26. NAME: Family- Petrova; First - Olga; Middle - Not applicable

27. Other names used: Petrova Olga Ivanovna

28. Full name in native alphabet: Petrova Olga Ivanovna (spelled out in Russian).

Or this is correct:

26. NAME: Family- Petrova; First - Olga; Middle - Not applicable

27. Other names used: None

28. Full name in native alphabet: Petrova Olga Ivanovna (spelled out in Russian).

What do you think?

Well, since you have your patronym on the SS card, I'd go with the 1st version if I were you.

Thank you for your feedback.

Funny thing, I looked at my SS card - no patronym printed there.

BUT, it keeps popping up on my financial records, where does it come from??!!!

Am I at least correct in that patronym is NOT a middle name?

It doesn't really matter as long as you put the same thing on all the papers in that stack and all associated papers.

Correct :)

But just like Slim said - no one will care as long as you keep it consistent.
