ohmygosh, I sooo hear you. It's little things like that that are easy and fast to fix or do, but for some reason, they can't get on it. I get an email from our lawyer and the FIRST thing I want to do is take care of it! Especially if I have the info or answer or whatever. It's so frustrating to me.

quite possibly, ive watched enough episodes of 'bridezillas' to be 100% set on not having a big wedding....my family and very close friends will go out to a nice restaurant when adriano and i get hitched...i cant deal with all that hoopla, its just me though

Yeah, I agree, I do not want a big wedding, but I do want some of the traditional aspects of one in a small wedding. Although we haven't even begun thinking about it; city hall is as far as we've gotten. Is that what you're going to do, or will you have an officiant?

LOL... although I'm very shy, on occassion I actually like being the center of attention. What better day?

But really I just want the few people in my life that I really care about there. I'm not one of those 250 guest wedding people, where like your parents are inviting their coworkers and stuff. So expensive!! I'd rather use that money for a great honeymoon or a down payment (or both).

my family is quite large, so even though i wont be having a wedding in a catering hall, there will still likely be about 40 people there...that would include my siblings, parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, first cousins and some very close friends

That makes a lot of sense. I agree that I don't want mine turning into that either. It'll be interesting, I'm sure, since I know my idea of what I want is going to differ with my future MIL's idea... but I stand firm in the belief that it is OUR day. She already had 2 weddings, damnit.

Your talking about the size of your family reminds me of how every time I mentioned to someone close to me that we'd be going to City Hall, they would invite themselves. "can I come?!" I had to say to everyone that no one is allowed to come. Though Scott says he cannot tell his parents they are not allowed to come to our wedding, so I suppose parents have a pass to that rule. My only exception is one friend who I would really like to have as a bridesmaid, but she doesn't have her Greencard yet, so she can't risk leaving the States, and we may have our "real" ceremony later in Montreal. So I may want her as my witness.

And yeah, 35 is a nice small number. There are 30 people I think I would like to invite, but I have no clue on Scott's side... already larger than I'd like, but at least it won't be one of those huge hundreds of people things!

our rule for the invitations was:

nobody is invited who didn't send us a brithdaycard in the last 2 years

we wanted it to be extra personal, and to be able to spend time with all of our guests, to walk around from table to table. we planned to be the waiters for our guests after dinner is over, and to walk from table to table serving them wine and beverages, just to get in touch with them.
