Married in Morocco in November 2006, We applied for a K-3 visa using I129F and I130 petitions.

Mailed them in February and March 2007 One sent to CHicago, one to Nebraska. both were sent to California. we only recieved NOA1 on Both petitions. the papers stayed in Cali until August when they were forwarded to the Portland office. they sat in the Portland field office until last week when I recieved a letter stating my husband and I needed to attend an interview in Portland in December.

well it is impossible for my husband to come to the interveiw! He can't get in the country until he gets a visa!!! DUH!

Does anyone know of this happening to anyone else?

we will have waited 10 months of this nightmare process and still don't know what is going on!

any help would be appreciated

Huh? Very strange....have you looked at the NOA1's you received, does it say I-130 and I-129F? These are petitions for visas and filed in that orde, they imply that one party is not physically here to attend a field office interview. How would you know that your petition was forwarded to the Portland Office in August? Maybe someone will come along that knows better, but normally the I-130 and I-129F are appoved at one of the two service centers and then sent on to NVC.

I would go alone to the interview, and see what its all about. Is there a # on the letter you received...perhaps you can call? I don't know but I don't think I've heard of such a thing happening in the case of a visa petition.

Good luck,

-P

The OP gave you a timeline in her post. She is at the "waiting for NOA2" stage of things. Calling USCIS misinformation line is no guarantee of any help....especially if something is hinky in their case.

that doesn't tell me anything..... he/she could have sent I129F before I130 for all I know. Even better, he/she might have filled out I485 instead of I130. With out the actual details and timelines, there is no way to know what exactly happened. so with out all the info, the safest advice I can give is to call USCIS.

You could try making an Infopass appointment. You might be able to schedule that before the appointment. I'm curious though, what did you put in the I-130, under item 22? What does the notice say the interview is for?

I will look to see what I put for Item #22 I am at work and don't have that with me now.

Portland no longer offers Info pass appointments. there is no phone number on the letter I received just an A#(document number)

I thank you for you help,.

I received a letter from USCIS stating it had been forwarded to both my I-129F and I-130 were forwarded to the Portland Field office for further processing and that I would be contacted via mail as to my next step.

I recieve the letter requesting an interview with both my husband and I, even though he has never set foot into the USA. the way I am looking at this, is they made a mistake and sent it to the wrong office. at least I just hope it is some sort of mistake.

I have to no choice but to go alone to the interview. from what I can tell from the letter they sent me it is an interview to prove that we have a relationship.

thanks for your help.

We had one other like this recently reported. The outcome was not good. I would go to the interview with all possible evidence of bona fide relationship. Give a lot of thought to or brain storm here what reasons you think they might have for doubting the bona fides.

For Item #22 I didn't put in anything. because it asked for his address if he resides in the USA.

The letter doesn't say why they sent it! It says IF YOUR PETITION IS FOR YOUR SPOUSE BRING YOUR MARRIAGE CERTIFICATE AND BRING PROOF OF YOUR SPOUSAL RELATIONSHIP SUCH AS

Rental/Mortgage contracts

Joint bank account statement

joint tax return

Proof of joint ownership of purchases

Health insurance

Birth certificate of children.

I can't show them any of the above documents, because I can't add my husband to any of this because he doesn't have a Social Security number.

This is a total catch 22
