Hi guys,

I had my interview today. I arrived at the embassy at 7:45 for an 8am interview. Inside, I was first called to a window and the guy there had my file with the USCIS and NVC stuff. He asked me when I planned to travel and took figerprints of both hands. Then he tolded me to wait. After 20 min I was called for the interview they took fingerprints again of the right hand and took the oath. Then the lasy asked me when I got married and when I first met my wife? She said that everything was in order and I was approved but they require further processing because Shahid Khan is very common name. I asked her how long it was going to take because my UK visa is expiring on Nov 30. She said it can take anywhere from 4 days to 3 months. They will send the file back to washington. She said that she will put in a note to complete this processing in a hurry since my visa is expiring and as soon as I get cleared from washington they will call me to send my passport through courier service so they can grant me the visa. Has anyone else had administrative processing experience in UK? How long does it take??

Sorry to hear of your problem. Hopefully the Embassy have given you accurate information of the time involved as there does seem to be a black hole involving some FBI name checks which from the way you worded your post gives the impression this is what is being done.

Wish you a speedy resolution to the delay.

What to expect at the POE - WIKI entry

Best to post in the MENA Forum rather than UK.

AP/AR, well the longest I have come across is 3 years, unusual for it to take more than 1 year.

Is your descent some country other than British/European? Maybe Middle Eastern or South Asian?

The Consulate pass on the paperwork and wait for the answer.

I never heard anybody got AP from London embassy

Hence my suggestion you post in the MENA forum.

Pakistan doesn't come in the MENA region (its in South Asia) and besides all embassies deal with cases differently and my visa is going to be issued from the London embassy so what good will I get from looking at MENA. Is there anyone posting there who had their interview in London and getting their visa from london? I have visited that forum but its all people from Middle Eastern countries residing there and having their interview there. Also I found another guy (with the same name as me) in old UK threads who had his K-1 visa interview in london and was also put on AP but his AP was over within a week. So I was wondering if there was anyone else here with the same experience?

If you look in the MENA forum you will find plenty of posts about AP/AR, or just search the forums. I have not looked in S Asia, my guess is not so many.

This is a normal step when more security checks are needed before the visa can be issued. There are many good posts about this process in the MENA forum as it is a norm for most applicants. Most are cleared in a few days to a few months. There is some info in MENA abotu how to call the DOS to check ont eh process of the security checks.

It may not be typical for London, but what is happening in DC is quite normal. I think the only problem yo may have is that this is no way to predict the time it will take. All of that is dependent on the number of security checks needed to clear and the number of false name hits that will need to be sorted through.
