what the hell?? I just called now, and it was actually a nice lady (who didn't get mad).. she said they are doing "additional security checks" on my application.. what is involved in this?? I asked her how long it will be, and she said she didn't know.. Why are they doing security checks on me?? I work for the damn ### government already.. :angry: :angry: Has anyone else gone through this?? Why are we being flagged?? That is just wrong.. she couldn't even provide an estimate timeframe as to when it will be finished.. 1 year?? 2 years???

Why do other Chinese people get through to the US?? so what is the point of being a US Citizen then?? US Citizen, US Govt worker.... do we have to be related to someone powerful?? :ranting: :ranting: :ranting: :ranting: :ranting: they told me my I-129F are "linked together" and both are under security checks...

They say I am under "additional security checks".. I looked it up, and it is background check based on the petitioner..

that is totally wrong.. are these "security checks" spot checks on people? Some people get it , some people don't?? Even people who applied after me got approved already (even from the same country -- China --)... "iray" congrats on your approval.. he applied after me though and didn't get any security checks..

I WORK FOR THE #%w)%#%)( GOVERNMENT ALREADY!!! What kind of security checks do you need, you FREAKING people?? I already had background checks done when I got the job.. also background (financial) checks when I apply for credit cards... :angry: :angry: :angry: I don't have a criminal background (but I will, if you guys don't hurry it up).. who cares if I get deported?? At least I will be with my wife =0 what is good about being a US Citizen compared to the H1B/H2B Temporary workers who aren't Citizens or Permanent Residents?

ABSURD Im sorry to hear this and first I have heard about, do you think that since China is rising its star as an upcoming super power they are worried about a married couple - cant believe what is going on with this whole issue.....and I hear your frustration and dont blame ya.........I have not idea about what is good about being born an American when I cant even get america's oldest allie here in a timely fashion let alone a notice of processing, told husband going to name him Juan, he be in tomorrow illegal and we can just be happy and forgot the paperwork......oh yeah he can get a drivers license in New York ...hmmmmmm

Sorry to read this Gogo. It is awful. Recently here Alan and Maekai have such experience with security checks. Try to read them and receive information. Hope that everything will be finished soon. Wish you luck :thumbs: :thumbs: :thumbs:

they said it could take from 30 days - 2 years... oh boy... :crying: :crying: :crying: I already told her and we are both very sad at this.. :crying: :crying: they say to expect at least 6 months time...

204 days + 6 months... man... that's too long... ==> 400 days just to get approved...

that's messed up...

Gogo, I know it is probably hard with this awful peice of bad news but you must try to keep your morale up.

I mentioned in another thread that everyone undergoes normal security checks but if they find something "out of the ordinary" then they will start additional checks. Maybe someone with a criminal record has the same name as you and they are trying to determine that that person is definitely not you.

Going out on a limb here (as I'm curious)... Does the fact that you work for the US government mean that the USCIS have to be extra vigilant?

Susie, this is not related to the country his spouse is from. As Gogo mentioned, Iray has a spouse who will be going through the same consulate and (s)he has just received their approval. There is a couple on this board (the_dip_sticks - spouse is from England) who had their NOA1 in June 2006 and are still stuck waiting for this type of check. So the country is irrelevant for additional checks :( It is just horrible that anyone has to get stuck in this loop through no fault of their own :(

Hi Gogo,

I am truely sorry to hear this information. USCIS is looking for criminal checks and you know your life. You work with the Government and are not a criminal so, finally in the end everything will work out. Hopefully, the checks will process quickly and USCIS will see you have NO record. I just wonder if you are with the same person, who is asking if I am the same person? I swear they are making everything even more difficult! Also, how did you find out about the additional security checks. I know you had spoke yesterday late morning but, did you call back again? Never in my life have I experienced such ####### and torture and it really seams its not getting any better! Our entire system is broken!!!!!!

Thanks hun, was just sorta wondering but I guess it depends on whats there, but what got me from the post was that he had gone through a security check since he works for the Government and those checks are pretty detailed. My bad and I basically just look at this whole thing now and am taking your advice, come here chat with people that are feeling the same emtions as us and wait........tough for someone that lives life with a carpedeim attitude but guess better change that thought and just go through each day as it is a gift. Sorry luv for trying to read too much into it. Frustration reared its ugly head but will hope for the best for all

08/19 Medical Exam completed - healthy oh yeah!!!!!!!!

9/26 @8am -Interview - approved VISA IN HAND OMG WHOOT!!! HELLO AMERICA MY LUV

POE- Atlanta then MCO - October 15th with the cat "GIT" on board lol - POE SUPER SWEET

Husband home finally - god what a journey....but after 400+ days we made it

Thanks everyone for your support.. :thumbs: It seems they don't really care if I work for the government or not.. actually, they had to do a background check on me when I was hired in.. and I also faxed in the letter with a cover letter too.. stating the dept's name (Fire Dept) and other information... even my wife was a little concerned (I pasted some information for her about the security checks).. it is mainly done on the "petitioner"... I hear about the "administrative checks" done on people after approval and after the NVC... so that "check" must be done on the "fiancee/spouse" side.. seems that will also take 6 months - 1 year.. hopefully we won't get "checked" that time.. and the visa people at Guangzhou will see we got "checked" already and everything is good to go.. :whistle:

I-130 STAGE 1 : 533 days - 1 year 6 months (4/16/2007 to 9/22/2008)

Priority Date I-130 : 4/16/2007 ( 533 days , APPROVED 9/22/2008)
Transferred to local office based on "security checks" : 11/27/2007
wrote hundreds of letters - received letter from FBI Records Management Chief stating no security checks
local office interview : 2/21/2008 - brought my parents too (result : you will get approval within 2-3 weeks)

9/22/2008 - CALL AND EMAIL COPY OF APPROVAL NOTICE FROM LAWYER

NVC says "RFE sent out 12/9/08 for missing documents" : 12/10/2008

CLEARED CUSTOMS - 3/10/2009

DHL Tracking : arrived 9/24/2013

P4 Letter : 11/21/2013

Interview Date : 12/9/2013, originally 12/3, stupid lawyer filled out her dad's passport number wrong..

Interview Passed : 12/9/2013

Visa "Issued" on CEAC : 12/10/2013
