Sorry to hear about this, but don't give up. Yes, they make us jump through all sorts of hoops, but don't try to fight it. Just get the signature you need...there has to be a way to do this. It's a terrible process, but you can get through it. Just remember you are at the very end, and not at the beginning, so don't get too down.

Wife's visa journey:

03/19/07: Initial mailing of I-129F.

07/07/11: U.S. Citizenship approved and Oath Ceremony!

MIL's visa journey:

07/26/11: Initial mailing of I-130.

05/22/12: Interview passed!

called department of state... according to them there is NO ISSUE WITH MY I-134. everything is in order and they are just waiting to check his fingerprints they took and then issue him a visa...

I told them that they did not even keep his passport they told him to submit it along with the co-sponsor's wife's I-134. So, the department of state is going to fax the new delhi embassy on my behalf and ask them what the heck is going on.... they told my husband something else and they are telling them something else.

my husband said the local guy was the one who was refusing to hear him out and the one who is this trouble because of.

Good luck Neel06 with your situation. There just seams there is always someone out there that has to make it more difficult than what it actually is. Hang in there you are almost there... Best of luck! :)

don't know what to do guys. my aunt is exploring nepal and bangladesh with her family. i have no way to contact her. new delhi embassy is being so irresponsible. all they have to do is look through my uncle's tax papers and see that he makes enough money individually that his wife's I-134 is useless.

for goodness sake my uncle's last year''s gross income was 298,000 and he paid over 50 thousand in taxes.

i am hoping that the department of state steps on my behalf and questions the stupidness of the embassy's judgement.

seriously, i have lost all the faith in the system. i always believed that these governmental departments were created for people not vice versa.

Delhi Consulate is so messed up, the Consulate Officer there is VERY irresponsible! Hopefully the Department of State will give some support and the matter can be resolved. Obviously your co-sponsor makes plenty of money and I would think a jointly filed return would be fine with only one signature.

Keep us informed, we're praying that it will be worked out ASAP! (F)

Here's a hare-brained suggestion, but you never know...

Perhaps there is a US Consulate in the country where your aunt is. Perhaps she could stop in there, fill out the document, and have them fax it to New Delhi.

Just a thought...

Good luck!

Maya

That soundd feasible

Your other option is to speak to the consulate yourself.

This is the second incident in a week where I have read of strange requests out of New Delhi, both involving the tax return or the affidavit of support.

Before I made any contact with them, I would collect my thoughts and calm down. Ask to speak to a supervising officer about your husband's case. Speak clearly, courteously, concisely but with conviction. Do not become emotional or accuse them of harassing people.

I'm thinking there's a new CO on board. Or one who is a hard a$$.

However messed up it may feel i think there maybe some merit to this and something for all of us going behind to note.

I was just trying to figure out the reasons for the signature of the sponsor's wife.

Guessing here now. Basically the sponsor swears that he will take financial care of the beneficiary and would not let them be a charge of the state. Now if the sponsor is filing his tax jointly and/or a lot of his assets are "joint" to his wife, the wife's consent may also be needed. Since the financial assets can be construed as "joint" and hence a joint approval is needed.

Now i dont know if this is the usual practice or something new or something this particular CO or consulate is doing. Makes sense from a purely financial/tax perspective but who knows what their rules are. But going forward it maybe a safe bet to get signatures of both the husband and wife if using a sponsor who files taxes jointly. I rather have the extra signature on the front-end.

What you guys think?

You're right, it does seem to make sense from a financial PoV.

I think the problem is that they waited until the "final hour" to tell Neel06 that it was needed. If there was information or guidelines readily available regarding sponsors having joint-filed taxes, then Neel06 could have covered this base and not be having this issue now.

the consulate told my husband- he needs to submit an additional I-134 from the co-sponsor's wife

the department of state says i need to submit an I-1864A.

the DOS representative also told me that whatever is in their system comes directly from the consulate.....

so where do i go...what do i do..... at this point get over this nightmare....

any suggestions. I am desperate. :help: :help: :help: :help: :help: :help:
