Just a reminder that you will all want to take your U.S. citizen's 2008 tax return with you, if you have not already submitted that with your I-864!

Yesterday I recieved a letter from MTL for my K-3 interview on April 15th. My CR-1 interview is May 20th, and since I am visiting my husband right now I will not be taking the April 15th interview slot or trying to see if they will switch that interview to the CR-1 (which was the only reason we followed the K-3).

It may indicate there are still some time slots in April (maybe just for K-3 and K-1's???) and that they are still assigning them. Inside my envelope I also recieved someone else's letter for a K-1 interview also for April 15th. My mom (who opened the mail) is mailing that person's letter to the address on their notice right away. Imagine??? That would be horrible never even recieving the interview!

Oh my word! What a big mistake someone made. I'm so glad your mom got it- that person will be so thankful!

Hey, I am writing a quick note. We had our interview today. Everything went well, but they said that we were insufficient with our sponsorship stuff. I had a joint sponsor and they are requiring a I864A, so I am hoping that is for my mom because I don`t have anyone that lives with me. I am asking my mom to fill it out because she was on my father`s taxes. It is weird they say he doesn`t have enough income because he alone without my mom makes more than 25% above poverty level... so anyways... we have to send it in and then they will send it to us via mail and they said to expect 4 weeks for us to get it. *sigh* another hurdle and I am not sure I understand it completely. My husband doesn`t have internet at his house, so... I probably will not be able to view the responses to this until I get back from Canada. Good luck to everyone who has their interview.

I'm so sorry to hear about your delay.

That is what I worry about the most right now since my Interview has been scheduled.

I was hoping you could share more about your experience.

Did you originally have a joint sponsor? Or do they want you to go out and get one?

Do you work or did you work only have the year (2008)?

That's what our issue is. My husband only worked half of last year because we were out of the country traveling, so we are concerned that they will want us to get a joint sponsor.

We are bringing a letter from his employer, all his tax forms and pay stubs to show he is now in a good job and is able to support me. We just hope they don't cause a fuss over his half-year unemployment.

First I would like to thank you for all of your encouragement and support.

Martine- If for the year, he made 25% above poverty level, I would think you were fine. I am not sure if I am a good person to ask this of. On my visa journey, I seem to be the poster child for what not to do! lol

Here is what happeneed to us. I was unable to work last year for several reasons. I had a joint sponsor. He is retired, but his income alone is more than 25% above poverty level. I was under the impression that if you had a joint sponsor, they would not accept it if the joint sponsor had a cosponsor as well. So, we did the I864 for my father to joint sponsor me. Our error was in the fact that he filed jointly with my mother, so they couldn't accept it unless they had the I864A from my mother.

We got everything sent in and now are waiting to see if we are approved or not. They gave us two sheets to finish the visa process by mail. So we mailed everything in, but forgot to put his passport in it. He went in on Monday and gave the passport to a guard who said they would get it to the right person. The paperwork to do it by mail said "Please allow 4 weeks from the time you send your correspondance until you receive a reply from the consulate." So, we are waiting. We mailed it the 26 of March and they received it on the 27.

All Done! I will be picking up my passport on Monday!!!
The interview was simple. Lasted less than 5 minuts. The officer confirmed the info and spellings on my apps, took my medical envelop and 2 pics. After 5 minutes I was asked for finger prints and about 30 mins later I was asked to take an oath. The lady asked me a couple of questions and then sd all was in order and I could pick up the visa on Monday if I stay back or or she could corrier it. I opted to pick up the visa

I just got back from shopping at St catherines and will also see Qubec city!!! yeay!!!

Shiri... I'm sure u'll get ur visa soon too. All the best to u and the others who are waiting for their interview.
