To whom it may concern,

I inquired about an interview date and was informed via e-mail by your office that the appointment date is Nov 5th and that i would be receiving a letter in the mail. I have not received a letter as of yet, as Nov 5th is a week away I have no instructions on preparing for the interview or the actual interview appointment letter. I would appreciate having an update as to what is happening and if a letter has been mailed out to me.

Thank you

Yours truly,

This is how MTL responded to my inquiry,

Thank you for your inquiry. If your inquiry concerns a case where

the I-130 petition was filed at a U.S. Consulate in Canada, please be

aware that there is a high volume of cases waiting to be scheduled for

appointments. Resource shortages may delay processing for 4-5 months

after we receive notification that you have all of your required

documents. Thank you for your patience.

In order to serve applicants faster, we do not respond to

inquiries requesting confirmation of receipt of documents or faxes, nor will

we be able to answer multiple inquiries about the same issue. Some

applicants call on the phone, send an e-mail and a fax to ask the same

question or a variation of the question. We have a small number of

employees who respond to all the inquiries. It only delays the service we

can provide if you make multiple inquiries. We will not respond to

multiple e-mail inquiries asking a duplicate question.

If NVC sent you a letter stating that your file is complete and it

has been sent to Montreal for scheduling, the file has NOT actually

been sent to Montreal but it is waiting at NVC until an appointment can

be scheduled. We currently have a 4-5 month wait for scheduling

appointments after receipt of the OF-230 part 1. You will receive an

appointment letter in the mail when your appointment has been scheduled by NVC.

You can expect to receive this appointment letter several weeks

before your appointments. Please remember to bring ORIGINAL documents of

birth, marriage, divorce certificates, etc.

If your inquiry is regarding processing of an immigrant visa for a

case where the petition was filed in the U.S. and it has not been

scheduled for an appointment, please send your inquiry directly to the

National Visa Center (NVC). To contact NVC, please forward your inquiries

by email to: NVCInquiry@state.gov. If you have been informed by USCIS

that your petition has been approved and forwarded to the Department of

State, please contact NVC directly.

If you are inquiring about a new family member whom you wish to

add on to an approved petition stored at NVC, please contact NVC in

writing providing petitioner and beneficiary's names and dates of birth,

case number, receipt number, and copy of birth certificate. To contact

NVC by phone, you must call between 8:00 am-8:45 pm, Monday-Friday,

Eastern Standard Time (EST). It may be easier to reach NVC during the

morning. Follow the prompts to speak with an operator. Telephone:

603-334-0700. You may also inquire via facsimile - Fax: 603-334-0791.

You can learn more about immigrant visas, in general, and the National

Visa Center, in particular, at

http://travel.state.gov/visa/immigrants/ty...types_1309.html.

Thank you.

They are no longer taking phone calls at that number, you have to email them :(

Maybe try faxing them? at 514-398-9748

I just tried calling them as I never have and wanted to see what they offer - what a grumpy recording!!

Don't call us, if you fax us don't follow up to see if we got the fax, we won't answer

It's like they got short staffed and people complained about the lack of service so they dug their heels in.

I would keep sending them an email, once in the morning, once in the afternoon until you get a real response!! They told me the same thing, that my new interview date was set and they would sent me out a letter. I finally emailed them back, and asked if they sent it out, and someone replied to me and told me the date my letter was sent out, and I got it 2 days later. Keep emailing them.

WELL THEY FINALLY WROTE BACK,

I called the NVC and they gave me number 202-663-1225 to call .. The polite man on the phone looked into the case and said MTL mailed me a letter Sept 13. And if they were to become involved in the case now i still would not recieve the letter in time for the interview. So just to show up, and he is not sure if they will allow me to go forward with my "mission".

About 20 mins later i got am e-mail from MTL.. stating they mailed a letter out Sept 13 and thats all they said. So WOW aint we the lucky ones :)..... I will show up Monday morning with my papers in hands and HOPE they have my name on some list and allow me in there ... GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR

Well...at least they acknowledged your interview date. That's a small mercy I guess. I received two interview letters for each parent (four in total). They didn't by any chance tell you to whom your letter was mailed out to. :bonk: Gotta luv those folks at MTL. :crying: Only a few days to go and then nevermore!

Most workers at the consulates are foreign service workers!! They do stints all over the world at various consulates, not always immigration related. They do 3-4 yrs abroad, then back to the USA, then off again!! Something like that. Wife has a few aunts that were in the Foreign Service. great job if ya like to travel

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied, that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1
