Quick questions to start the process

Hola,

Just a quick question. We're almost ready to send the package today and we're wondering whether we need to send the Declaration of how we met: it's the single typed page attachment regarding question 18 of the I-129F.

Do we actually need that or we should be fine with pictures and flight itineraries?

Any feedback would much appreciate to start the process TODAY! Yay!

Best,

Nineta

From experience it is very important to sent the statment of how you guys met. It will save you time in your whole process. Good Luck...

There's a small area on the I-129f to explain the circumstances under which you met (question 18). I just used this space to state how, why, and where, didn't go into detail. My petition has been approved.

It doesn't hurt to provide as much information as needed to provide clarity for the person reviewing your petition. To be safe, you might just want to include it.

Good luck !

Don't EVER leave anything blank on any form. I answered it by writing: "David and I met in a restaurant while I was on vacation in Germany." Simple and to the point is all you need.

8-30-05 Met David at a restaurant in Germany

3-28-06 David 'officially' proposed

4-26-06 I-129F mailed

9-25-06 Interview: APPROVED!

10-16-06 Flt to US, POE Detroit

11-5-06 Married

7-2-07 Green card received

9-12-08 Filed for divorce

12-5-08 Court hearing - divorce final

A great marriage is not when the "perfect couple" comes together.

It is when an imperfect couple learns to enjoy their differences.

Yeah, don't leave anything blank. You may not necessarily need the attachment suggested here (though I did it that way), but if you don't do that fill in the blank with a short explanation of how you met.

We are really just at the same point as you- but I have a strong feeling (from what I've read here) that the more details you provide, the more evidence you show and the more specific you are, the lesser are your chances to get an RFE-

right now I regret not sending more proof along with the petition, but you still have it with you- so:

1. do write a letter (might not be necessary but can't hurt)

2. send by overnight mail with tracking number (helped us a lot to determine if our hard work was received at the USCIS)

3. register at uscis.gov ( an update by e-mail is available- and is convenient)

4. pray real hard...=]....and talk to your sweetheart a lot...=]]]....I trust she misses you just as much as I miss my love...

good luck to you guys!!

For what it's worth, I never received a status update email when my petition was approved, so you might want to check the status at USCIS's web site every now and then anyway.

Since Dianna and Adam brought it up, I'll also stress that sending with delivery confirmation is a minimum. Also, keep your delivery confirmation (that gets returned to you by postal service), just so you have proof that they received it (you won't need it, hopefully, but good to be safe).

Again, best of luck!
