Hi albkos,

I contacted my bank and they said that it was not yet cashed. I am a little worried about this, because now i am wondering if they even recieved my case. Do you know the customer service number i can call? Thank you. :)

I believe you can call the company that issued the money order and find out if it has been cashed, i am sure they can also supply a copy of it.

Hope this helps

Here is the general customer number: 1-800-375-5283

However they won't be able to help you. Currently they have a policy of being completely worthless. I kid you not. Basically they won't even bother matching up your Surname and birthday to a potential reciept number over the phone until 90 days have passed. They have the ability directly in front of them but it is against procedure, though I suppose you could backdate your application 60 days. I've called them 3 times in the past 3 weeks and have gotten misinformation everytime. The first time I called they said that I should update my address which I did over the phone. I called back a week later and had my call expediated to a higher up rep. She looked up my account and said I hadn't been processed yet. She also told me that the address change failed because the address cannot be changed without a receipt number and that I should check back a week later. So I called up and tried to check and see if i'm in the system as the woman suggested. The customer rep said that the previous rep was mistaken and that I can't receive such info until 90 days had passed. She also said that she could update my address as the system had been redone last week allowing for address updates with no receipt number.

And before this I rang to see if the Nebraska Service Center received 129Fs or if I should send to California. The woman said that I would have to make an appointment with immigration officer for this info as no one there has that info.

Basically without a receipt number to bypass to a service center the people on that service line are completely worthless, you would get better information by calling up your local foreign takeway. The sad thing is they've designed the system to be worthless to discourage you from your right as a US citizen to petition.

I'm roughly in the same situation you are, I incorrectly sent my application to Nebraska on the 15th of September and it arrived on the 26th. I assume it has been safely forwarded to CSC and was either processed last week or this coming week. If you have a look on their website you will notice they are having receipt delays and as of yesterday have processed applications up to the 9th of Oct. I've also been told by a customer rep that they sometimes delay in cashing your payment up to a week after the initial processing into the database. Not sure if I believe this or not but I haven't heard to the contrary.

The CSC has had problems with their receipt process, and some people will never get a receipt notice. However, if you mailed the paperwork more than 95 days ago, you can call the USCIS customer service line (listed on their website) and they can patch you through to an immigration officer who can look up your case by name/SSN/address/etc. This is what I had to do. You can also request that a receipt notice be re-issued.

Good luck!!

Hi,

USCIS 1800 375.5283

That is worrying, so you have no idea if your packet even arrived?

I never got my NOA (I assume this is what you meant by receipt) either, which was worrying enough.... but I knew my packet arrived because I sent it return receipt requested and I recieved the confirmation of the delivery from the post office plus I knew the check had cleared my bank (it cleared 11 days after I mailed it)....so luckily, I was not totally in the dark. I phoned USCIS and they told me the same thing, no help with out a case number...the WAC case number is on the back of the canceled check....but the scanned copy of my check was illegible (and the origional had been destroyed)....so, no letter, no check, no number, no help.... I had to wait 90 days...on the 91st I called again and got thru....got our case number....so they will help you BUT THREE MONTHS IS A LONG TIME!

Fingers are crossed for you, I hope they can advise you.

07/16/07 posted I-129f

07/20/07 confirmed delivered by US Postal Service

8/23/07 No NOA1 !!!!

8/23/07 phoned USCIS (told they can't help until after 90 days)

8/23/07 contacted bank to get copy of Cx check...illegable...noc WAC#

tried for weeks to get actual check....not possible, had to wait the 90 days for info from USCIS

10/17/07 Phoned USCIS, got thru (!), got WAC number and NOA1 date!!!!

07/26/07 NOA1 (never recieved hard copy, was promised a copy would be sent)

11/01/07 Ordered copy of "long form" UK B.C.

11/05/07 Recieved B.C. (Wish USCIS was that fast!)

11/09/07 Submitted request for UK police records

12/04/07 APPROVED By USCIS NOA2 letter sent (or so they claim)

12/15/07 Police certificate recieved

12/28/07 Called NVC, not in system

01/04/08 petition forwarded to London

01/12/08 packet 3 received *rubs eye in disbelief* Speed and efficiency, can it be?

01/18/08 HARD COPY OF NOA2 ARRIVED...seems the snail made a wrong turn somewhere.

01/28/08 Returned packet 3 to London Embassy

02/12/08 Medical completed...no problem.

02/13/08 Packet 4 received from London Embassy

03/03/08 Embassy Interview

03/06/08 Visa Arrived....Lovely to finally see it even if it is a bit drab...after 8 month you think they'd have sprung for some gold foil or at least a COLOR photo?

TODAY...he's here! He's in the US! Hurrah!

Hello Raquel23,

Nice to see a posting from you again. Checks are MUCH easier to track than Money Orders...the instructions on this site recommend checks because of this. Regarding the Customer Service...I cannot agree more with the other posters on your question. One person tells you one thing...another person something else. There is no unity. While I think it is USCIS policy to issue NOA-1's within 30 days, I do not think they are meeting their goals.

So, as a result of your decision to use a Money Order instead of a check, you are between a rock and a hard place. Paciencia, mi amiga...paciencia! Good luck on your VISA Journey. I hope you hear from your future husband MUCHO!!!!

Regards,

Craig
