 I had my Medical today at St. Lukes. One question of the doctor is about tobacco use. I answered yes because during my college days, I used to smoke. I just answered honestly. Is this a reason for visa denial? Any input will be appreciated...thanks a lot....

I would have expounded on that. Yes, but I haven't smoked in XX years. Statistically, after a number of years you are the same risk as a non smoker, Yes?

Hi joelunchbox

I actually told the doctor that i have smoked when i was still in college. And i saw the doctors note on the paper " History of tobacco Use". But there was a question(in the paper) if i'mstill smoking. There was two choices the Yes and the No boxes. I saw that the doctor put a check on the No box. :D

I'm really hoping that this could not be the reason for visa denial...

I smoke a few a day and was honest at the medical. I actually asked the doctor was smoking frowned upon and he said no. Its not a reason for denial. Good luck!

Not unless you lace that cigarette with crack or some other illegal substane. :) Other than that, NO PROBLEM! However, you'll find that cigarettes here in the States are very expensive. Plus, there are smoke free zones. Take care...

Cheers!!!
