Also I'm confused about the name change - I wanted to change my name but the judge didn't say anything about that... does name changing also differ from state to state or county to county? As far as we're concerned my name is changed already! But we want it to be legally changed as well.

I know certain name changes differ from state to state - stuff like the groom taking the bride's last name, etc. But if you're just looking to take your husband's name, the marriage certificate will suffice as a legal document.

Name change--you shouldn't need anything more than the marriage certificate to prove it's been changed, but you will probably have to fill out specific paperwork to change each document or piece of ID you need changed. It should be pretty straightforward, though.

Congrats on your marriage!!!

You just need to change your name at your bank, your credit cards, etc. using your marriage certificate as proof of why your name changed. You can just start using your new married name right away.
