Gogo,

In my case the phone call actually did something and I had approvals the next day. I had waited 180 days though before I called and I think it's rare that a phone call like that actually led to an approval. You'll probably be calling them again after approvals since it's been taking 5 to 6 weeks for the approvals to make it to the NVC. Good luck, you're overdue !!

I called 1800-375-5283 since mine is more than 6 months and they said to wait more. there were no touches in my file.

Everyone should complain to who can make a difference, our electected officials! I never see protests on TV by people in our situations, I never hear elected officials saying "We have to fix the processing times!" The only way this can be changed is if enough people complain to your senators and congressmen.

What was the reason for the fee increases? Wasn't it to upgrade the petitions to be enterred electronically by the petitioners so they didn't have to do it manually at USCIS? We need to push our elected officials to be accountable for why our fees were increased and ask why USCIS hasn't moved aggressively toward electronic filing of all petitions as well as elctronic submittal of supporting documents.

I tried calling after I reached the 180 days.. The first time I called with this "batch" was 10/15.. that was over my 180 days limit... so I THOUGHT I had a good reason to keep calling them.. doesn't the site say that they will PROCESS the case within 180 days? (meaning, completely approved or denied?).. Thank you guys for all your words =) I hope that all of us get approved soon... this has been a tough trip for all of us.. waiting so long just to be with our loved ones.. I will also celebrate with you guys once I get the approval letter.. but that is just Step 1.. there is still much to do with the 'Adjustment Status' as well as getting the green card ==> Citizenship.. her school.. getting her acquainted with life in US.. so much to do.. and we aren't even past the 1st step after 6 months ... booooooooo.....

I called the 1-800 number and just did the RFE tricks all this time.. I don't think there really is a special "phone line" or "email" we can use..

no, I didn't hire a lawyer.. thought about it.. but people here said just to do it yourself.. sometimes it is faster too.. lawyer will use delays just to earn more money... :whistle:
