So my ex and I jointly filed for our divorce 6 weeks ago and the woman said to call mid October and our clearance should be in. She said this whole process would be over by mid November and I'll have my divorce papers in hand.

Well I called this morning and the clearance isn't in, she said call next week.

I know it's just one week. I know Nick and I have so far to go, we haven't even filed yet but we both want so desperately to start this process.

He booked his flight this morning for Christmas. I'm very excited for that. He hasn't officially proposed so, maybe we'll wait until after that happens to file.

I need to be more patient, I need to just let things happen when they do....I just love him so much.

Thanks for letting me express my thoughts.

Hope everyone has a great weekend

:)

Hi. I know how you feel. I had to wait for my divorce to be finalized legally before I could file the K-1. It was extremely frustrating because we had already met and knew we wanted to spend the rest of our lives together. After visiting my fiance in March, I had to wait until July to file. I just think now if only I could have filed it back in March I would have been approved by now, but at least I beat the fee increase. So I know all too well how you feel. Hopefully once you get your divorce, this process will go along smoothly for you. Best of luck to you both.

Do I EVER know how you feel! Andrew and I met in October last year, and had to wait out almost the full year of separation before my divorce could be finalized! The year was up in July but my ex wasn't on top of things and it took a lot of coaxing and prodding, and yelling, and paying in order to get it all done by September the 10th. Those two months in between were so hard for us! Especially since we were told that it would be final in July, and then in August. It always seemed like okay, it'll be done this day, and then, well this day, and it never was! I wanted it to be over so I could start again but man.... I cried so much, so often but in the end, there was nothing to do but wait. We sent our I-129f a little over 2 weeks after my divorce was finalized. That was a hard wait too. I wanted to file the day I was divorced but paperwork issues prevailed as sometimes they are wont to do. Oh well, it's done now and there's something else to wait for (the NOA1!).

I sympathize with you completely. Even waiting that one extra day is SO hard! Take heart. The divorce will soon be finalized and the waiting will start again! :P At least we'll all be pretty patient people when this is over, HOPEFULLY! :P

Thank you for your post....

I'm sorry you had to go through that too but it's so worth it!!!

Nothing good comes easily and I know once I'm in the states with him, everything will have been worth the wait.

Thanks for the reassurance.

No problem Laura. I know that if it wasn't worth it in the end, neither of us would be doing this huh? Nothing really good is ever easy. You know, for awhile I said that the distance was a good thing. It let us really get to know one another. Now, it's getting to be almost unbearable. Every day I tell myself, and he tells me, just a little while longer. I'm beginning to get sick of the word SOON! But it is one day closer every day and I know that when that day comes, I'll miss Alberta, but I'm ready to start over new with my baby!

Exactly....

I love and I hate the distance.

We got to know each other, our minds, our souls first before we ever met and then bam, when we met it was like...total comfort and realization that we had met our soul mates.

We have been together for over a year...Christmas will be our 9th time together and each time it gets harder. We know we will be together, it's just a matter of time...we always say "and before we know it....." We will be together.

I'll miss Ontario too, I've lived in Brantford my whole life....but every time I come home it doesn't feel so much like home anymore, home is with Nick, wherever that may be.

Best of luck to you!

Yeah, I really do know what you mean Laura. It's actually a year for us too. I never thought I'd visit the US let alone live there, but I'm excited to be down there. I just want to be with him, that's all that really matters. When we talk, I always tell him that I want to come home. Most of the time I'm crying when I say it, but that's the way that it is. Home for me is there because that is where he is.

I wish I knew what was happening at Christmas for us. The thought of not spending Christmas with him breaks my heart! I hope it will all go well. It's kind of funny though, the first few visits were SO hard when he left, and I cried so much. Then it seemed like it got a little tiny bit easier, cause I knew he was coming back. Now it's getting harder again everytime cause I just wish with all my heart that I was on that plane with him flying away home. ~sighs~

To both of us...hang in there! Our day will come!

*hugs to Laura* Hang in there! I can completely commiserate with how you feel right now. Being separated from your loved one is the worst thing but just remember what's waiting at the end of the road. Hopefully this Christmas with Nick will bring you the happiness (and the paperwork!) that you're looking for :)
