Well I applied last February to remove conditions . . . and I am still waiting! Plus, two days ago AILA got the notice that VSC is transferring 80,000 backlogged applications to CSC. That sounds good, except I am wondering if they then just slot you into the CSC schedule rather than using the VSC filing date so it is basically back to square one and another 6 to 8 months wait. That is what happened to me with the AOS - transferred just as I was getting to the date they were working on - and it was another 9 months before my AOS was approved. I am actually getting depressed about all of this - tears, frustration, feeling like what is the point of it all - I even have this horrible head ache right now just thinking about it! (I wonder if I can send my medical expenses to USCIS and have them pay the cost of antidepressants - I wouldn't need them if it weren't for them.) What is even more frustrating is that someone who submitted on exactly the same day I did, and had biometrics the day before me was approved nearly 10 days ago. I really am getting sick of all of this. 6 bloody years - it's ridiculous. I should have already had my citizenship if they had bothered to approve my applications within their own timelines instead of just being about to apply for it next month.

“...Isn't it splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about? It just makes me feel glad to be alive--it's such an interesting world. It wouldn't be half so interesting if we knew all about everything, would it? There'd be no scope for imagination then, would there?”

Ugh! How ANNOYING, Kathryn! See, this is exactly how I feel just thinking about all this. That's why I had a :girlwerewolf2xn: moment this morning..... in anticipation of all the ####### I'll have to go through. Again. And again NEXT year. I've frickin had it.

Oh no way I'm doing this 2 years in a row.. naturalization can wait till year 9 of my 10 year green card.. that's what I have decided. :protest:

Oh. Hmm. I never thought of it that way. I thought I'd just do it and get it over with so I can be rid of this process once and for all.

I just am stubborn and don't want to give USCIS the satisfaction of getting my money all up front.. it really doesn't make a diff.. you still pay the same amount, just over a different length of time.. and perhaps I'll be regretting the decision 6 years from now when the fees go up astronomically!

My hubby is the same way. He doesn't really care whether or not he's a citizen. He has nothing against it, but no real desire. The only reason he's going to apply is to not have to deal with USCIS anymore. :)

I hated that we did the cr-1 with a lawyer (had not found VJ) but she was good for 1 thing about telling us to go with a CR-1 over a k1. So much less stressful, lol Of course back in 2004, wasnt a huge time difference in processing.

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied, that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1

 pain in the bum I say..

AND... you can apply for citizenship after 3 yrs.. instead of making the conditional card a 3 year card.. noooooo they stick you with removal THEN they'll charge you again for naturalization.. money making racket.. bah!!!

Well that does seem like a kind of crazy round about way - process!

So does that mean you can apply for naturalization 3 years from the date of your conditional GC, or 3 years from your perm GC?
