So, my infopass resulted in the following:

1) an argument with the officer telling me that I wasn't work authorized because I'd applied for AOS (which had nothing to do with the reason I was there)

2) her checking into the system and finding out that I'm not a Y1 or a K1, but a UU (I don't even know ####### that is, nor do I care)

3) her calling Philadelphia International Airport and confirming that I need to make a trip there so that one of the inspectors can remedy my status in the system

4) a very, very long nap.

...well, at least I don't have to go all the way back to Vancouver. *cries*

Sorry to hear that Nini dear.

That's so ridiculous I laughed out loud.

Oh Krikit, it was fantastic. Bee was standing there with a deer in headlights look watching the both of us slang back and forth.

"But you're a K1 and you can't work"

"I know that, and you know that"

"Then why are you here?!"

"Because your system says I'm a Y1!"

"What do you mean, you're a K1"

"I KNOW I'M A K1"

"Then why are you here?"

"Because your computer says I'm something else!"

We were both laughing at the end of it. At least those Infopass people have a sense of humor.

Okaaaaaaaay.

So Bee and I hit the PHL today - after wandering around Terminal A blindly for a few minutes, we found the information desk and managed to get directed to the CBP office. They summoned an officer down for me, he took my passport to his computer, we waited. Finally he came back and apologized for the "typo" (HA!) and said that I was good to go. Whee! Now it's time to tackle the SSA office again -_- but I'm so glad that fiasco is over! We only lost a few hours of our lives dealing with this shite

While we were waiting in the CBP office, a mother and her middle-aged son came in to get an immigration stamp for their passports... turns out they'd been en route to JFK from the Caribbean and the dad had a stroke while landing, so the EMTs had to be called in :(

The only way I can make myself feel better about the hours, tears and frustration we have spent on this process is considering that it is an investment for the rest of our lives. If I couldn't justify it that way I'd probably lose it.

So just remember that, if you can.

That is a really articulate way of putting it, brad. I'll be sure to keep that in mind next time we deal with USCIS's follies

Oh my god you guys, I have to vent again. My husband is driving me crazy right now!! He just got fired last night from his job. This is his second job in the last three months. I am trying not to be hard on him because he is going through some stuff right now but dam. He knows that right now especially he needs to keep his stuff together. I am working two jobs up here trying to save money and he is being an idiot. I hate this feeling of wanting and needing to be with him and help him and I can't. It's hard to deal with stuff when you're this far away, like I'm sure all you guys understand. Just a couple more months I keep telling myself but this stress is starting to get to me!!!!

Ahh, okay I feel a little better.

I'm not sure why the fire alarm in my building went off twice last night complete with wailing trucks and firemen and NO FIRE (no one pulled the alarm, it went off automatically), but it was not what we needed at 3am after hosting a party.

Expedia's site was apparently having issues when I booked my room for my interview in Montreal. Last night I went to double check on the itinerary, and it showed that it was not booked, after a month and a half of me thinking I had all the accomodations taken care of. I call my credit card company, and sure enough, it was never charged to my credit card.

I frantically get back online and book again with La Tour Centreville, since I know sometimes they book up pretty quickly. This time, when I go to check the itinerary, not only have I booked the new room, but the room that I had previously tried to reserve magically fixed itself and booked that one for me too. Now I had two rooms booked for the same night.

In a rage, I call Expedia and ask what the heck is going on. Some kind of computer error earlier had caused the issue, so they volunteer to cancel both rooms and refund my money. Sounds good, so I tell them to go ahead, and I'll re-book again. Directly after the lady on the phone clicks the "ok" button to cancel my rooms, she informs me that the refunds for both rooms won't be deposited back into my account for 5-7 days, which won't be until AFTER my interview. Now I've maxed out my credit card and still have no hotel.

I'm a very angry girl right now :ranting:
