I hear ya Marilyn. My hubby smokes only at work. I'm highly allergic to it and so he can't smoke around me. I've been around smokers on my dad's side of the family a long time and I've been hospitalized once or twice due to bad asthma reactions. Anyway, I know how you feel about not caring that anyone else smokes but your hubby. I'm concerned about my husband's health too. My grandma died from lung cancer when she was 58 and it was terrible. I don't want to have to see my hubby go through that or other smoking related illnesses.

I agree that smokers should be outside to a certain extent. It's so hard. We live in an apartment on the 3rd floor and the people on the first floor only smoke outside, not in their house. What that means for us is that when the weather's nice out and I have the balcony door open to get fresh air all I get is smoke. They are chain smokers to it hardly ever ends. Sometimes, I take the dog out in the middle of the night and they've obviously gotten up to have a cigarette! UGH! I know I know....just shut the door. And believe me I do. It's just that I have the right to fresh air don't I?

My rant du jour:

My town has laws against the sale of alcohol within city limits. There is a petition happening to change that. We're at the local grocery store and there are signature-gatherers outside the doors, and they approach us. I explain that I'm not a USC, but SO is.

Texan Frat Boy then ignores my extistence like the dirty foreigner I am, which is fine since I can't sign his paper, but then proceeds to be SUPER RUDE to SO while he's signing both papers!!! What the EFF?! If you come hat in hand begging someone to support your petition, you'd better not be a rude goatmolester while they're doing you a favour!

If I had been eligible to sign his petition I would have scratched off my name and handed it right back to him and told him exactly what I thought of him and his inappropriate attitude, Texas-style, since being a giant douchebag seems to be A-Okay. To heck with Canadian Politeness!

It happened days ago but I'm still so angry.

What a jerk indeed! And I hope the ban stays. Alcohol causes too much destruction.

Wow. In what way was he rude? I would have done the same. In fact, I have. I remember this one lazy cow at the local Horton's. And I don't say that lightly. She was absolutely horrible. Always rude and slovenly and deliberately slow. Anyway, normally, I will wave away the change when they go to give it to me. (With sandwich orders I always give them a tip, though.) So she goes to give me my change and I say "That's okay" and she says "Wow" really sarcastically as she dropped it into her cup. So I made her give it back. B!tch.

She was SO. EMBARRASSED. She thought I was joking, at first. Then she turned bright red and got all stuttery and apologetic, and was fumbling around in the tip container. The owner was standing right behind her and was not amused. With her, that is. Not me.

THIS BLOWS!!!!!!!

I don't know WHAT kind of heating we have in this DUMP, I think it's steam radiators but at night when it's turning on, yeah...it sounds like someone is coming through the floor with a metal sledgehammer!

It literally shakes the walls and the bed!!!

Is this going to be like this ALL DAY when the heat is on all the time???

Flipping 11pm, 1am, 3am, 5am.....it's absolutely RIDICULOUS.

SO LOUD! BANG BANG BANG!!

I'm calling our landlord now. :crying:

Steam radiators are wonderful. It sounds like yours need bleeding, though. That's what happens when air gets into the lines..... they tend to bang until you bleed them (let the air bubbles out).

Thanks Krikit...Our landlord STILL hasn't called Nick or I back...I'm going to call again today.

On a funny side rant, my beautiful and darling kitty Mojo got a whole roll of papertowel and ripped it to SHREDS in his room (the guest bedroom is his play room)

I woke up and saw some sheets in the hallway and was like..."#######..." Turn the corner and bam...shreds of papertowel all over the carpet, in his little house, on his scratching mouse thing...EVERYWHERE. He just looked at me like "What Mom"? :innocent: LOL

What a goober!!!!

He didn't say anything quotably rude, just had a very aggressive, patronizing tone and if I didn't know better I'd swear he was annoyed with us for daring to waste his time by signing the petition!

I felt like saying something like "You might have a field-awarded degree in Keg Standing, but he's doing his PhD. So let's not kid ourselves about which one is the 'smart one', shall we?" although SO wouldn't talk to me for a week if I did so. Looking back, it might have been worth sleeping on the couch for a few nights ...

I was in a small town called Bothell, WA this weekend during my road trip, and stopped at a local Applebees (I know I know, it's all I could find)

There was a party of 14 old people, in the range of 50-90 years old (family outing I guess). One woman explained she was a politics teacher at the local high school.

An older man said "I don't see how anyone can vote for Obama. He killed thousands of people. Just because he shaved his beard and sounds like he speaks perfect English now isn't enough for me to vote for him. McCain will go kill him for us and get justice."

The table all agreed completely, that Barack Obama was actually Osama bin Laden.

No, I am not joking. That's how stupid Americans can be.

PS. They said Foxnews has been an excellent source of election news.
