This is such a 'whatever'. She is so about herself. So now if you want to keep the friendship you have to jump through a bunch of hoops.

No kidding. I don't understand how she feels she deserves "special treatment" above all of Liz's friends.

You know who your friends are, Liz. If she was a true friend, she would've said something to you, not through your friend... clearly if she can't take the time for you, why should you for her?

I'm going to take a wild guess here---Jenny has never actually had to pack for a long distance move, has she? Especially not while simultaneously dealing with immigration and wedding stuff. Yeah, okay, you were the one who was supposed to take the time to make sure she knew how absolutley much you valued her friendship, wanted her to come to your party, were going to miss her, and so on...while the van just packed itself!

Hey everyone.. so some of you may remember my MOH fiasco... well her friend, the other bridesmaid, just wrote me an email.

Hey Liz

I just thought that I would let you know that Jenny is really, really hurt and upset by the way you left without speaking with her.

Jenny takes friendship very, very seriously and gets hurt quite often from a lot of her friends.

She really wished you reached a little further out to her (perhaps a phone call) before you left.

She said if you had called and expressed that you really wanted to see her before you left she would have come to your going away party, but she felt like it really didn’t matter to you either way. We spoke about this last night.

This is probably based off of the fact that apparently when you asked her to step down as the maid of honour, you started off by saying “I don’t know if our friendship will withstand this,” or something along those lines, which gave her the impression that you had no faith in the strength of it at all.

I tried to explain that you thought you did reach out with the text and e-vite, but Jenny thought that was very impersonal and since you sent them to everyone else as well it was obviously not specific to her.

She’s really hurting thinking that her friendship meant so little to you.

If that is not the case, I think you should try to get that across to her.

A written letter or a phone call would probably be best. (Not email).

Just a suggestion.

Respond:

Dear Jen, GROW UP. If you want to talk to me, email me directly... or phone me.... unless you have forgotten my number. Your behaviour towards my wedding plans whas as bitchyyy as one would expect from a stranger. Take a chill pill, and THEN talk to me.

Liz.

I'm not shocked by human behavior anymore. I expect mediocrity, I EXPECT failure, and I expect people to think their business is more important than anyone elses.

I have learned that "strike 1, you're out" works best. If the mess up once, they will again and again and again. So I cut them off early. Completely. If they don't have the courtesy to follow through on something we have planned, I don't have the courtesy to tell them why they are such an idiot.

New Vent...what the He@l is wrong with the universe when it comes time for a wedding? Seems like everyone I know has some sort of drama just before their nuptuals...here's a recap of MINE:

5:00 PM - Walked dog in the park; lost my keys.....yep, ALL of them

5:10 PM - Broke into my house (where the heck did I put that spare key??)

5:30 PM - Doug laughing at me for being so pissed at myself

4:45 AM - Awoke to the sound of my dog gagging (is there a worse sound?), followed by a loud YACK...she sleeps with us under the covers....

4:47 AM - In the shower (thanks Maddie)

5:00 AM - Crawled into guest bed

7:30 AM - Ford dealer informs me I have to bring the car in to program new keys to the car

8:30 AM - Tow truck's here! $75 for 3 miles?!?

11:00 AM - Two new keys & labor: $100

11:30 AM - $30 vet bill to find out the dog "must've ate something that didn't agree with her"...thanks....

4 hours of work at no pay, and $205 spent on BADD(Bride Attention Deficit Disorder)....but no Bridezilla here....nope, not ME!

Sorry, I don't mean to laugh at your misfortune, but !

That's ok, I'm cracking up myself....24 hours later.... :thumbs::D

Why do weddings have to be about so much drama? We're "eloping", but my best friend wanted me to schedule MY dress fitting around HER schedule....is it jealousy? Don't want us to have OUR SPECIAL DAY? Don't bite, or in this case jump, Liz....this is YOUR time, YOUR day and YOUR marriage; they'll just have to get over it.

This is why we're going away, just the two of us......course, 2nd wedding for both of us so it was logical....Doug's best friend got married a couple weeks ago, and he called Doug today to ask him if he was ready to change his mind yet?!? Guess the friend's wife was UNBEARABLE the week of their wedding.....another reason to elope, lol, stress-free!

Maybe Sara will pop in and reply to this thread about wedding mishaps. We had a lot of them. She dropped one of her friends from the wedding since she didn't have money to pay for her dress. (Expected us to when our wedding was already at 15k)

Anyway.. Sara wanna chime in?

--

All I know is I am glad that bit is over with. Everyone wants to be a part of the "special day" so much that for some it is no longer special. After while I just told her to stop facilitating everyone. As soon as we stopped listening, taking advice and using "connections" we were virtually stress free.

I burned the top of my mouth eating soup :( It was way hotter than I thought it was..I hate that.

Yuack! My mouth is sensitive too. You ever drink coffee or hot chocolate KNOWING it is going to be hot but you take it in, and SOMEHOW it is hotter than the blazes of hell and you scold your mouth/tongue so bad you can't taste for a week?

Welcome to every hot beverage I drink.

Ya.. I have a sweater of hers that I was hoping to return before I left. I'll mail it to her with a letter (sans apology) when I get around to it.
