I do too, Nini, and I like that song. I just don't understand the connection between zombies and the Troubles in Northern Ireland. This came up in a thread on another board where there is a lively debate going on over whether zombies can really be scary since they (apparently) move so slowly you can outrun them while sleepwalking.

Emancipation, sorry that situation sucks badly.

I think it's a metaphor for the children slowly being sucked into the strife happening in Northern Island. That's my take on it, personally.

I'm very very unhappy right now with work.. like so much I can't express it..

I hate every minute of being here, and i'm getting headaches and my stomache is upset every time the phone rings..

I can definately sympathise with you about work. I'm to the point of hanging up this teaching thing. *sigh* I'll be so glad for the three day break we're getting next week (five if you include the weekend) cos we're all about to bang our heads against the wall. Kids...increasing workloads...more standards...people griping about their taxes going up so we can better educate their kids. I went to pay the ad valorem taxes on my car the other day. They didn't decrease by much and I commented on it, not complaining, just commenting. She smirked at me and said "Well, you have the increase in the millage rate and higher taxes to thank for that...just so we can pay YOU more money". She fails to realise that those tax dollars go to give her children a good education and to pay those that implement that good education. I wanted to tell her that if she thinks she can do a better job for less money, then by god go and do it!

Our cat Stella is limping around right now - during her checkup appointment at the vet today (she's diabetic) one of the nurses was rough with her while taking her out of her carrying crate and getting a blood sample from her leg. My mother-in-law is super pissed and so am I.

Oh well it isn't surprising they'd confuse Canada with California. Both have an Ontario, after all! Okay, I'm being facetious, but it really isn't entirely surprising. When I lived overseas, I had to write a letter explaining my address to the people at my student loan place so they would send things to me there ("Dear sir or madam, please process my change of address, which I sent you 5 months ago. On the second line, ul. is an abbreviation for ulica, the Polish word for street. That is my street address. The third line is the city I live in...." etc...). Yes, people, there IS a world beyond our borders, and shocking though it may sound, there are people who have lived in it!!

Here is my rant of the day. I keep checking USCIS site to see if we've been touched, not because I expect anything much to be happening with our petition yet, but because I'm pretty obsessive. I want a damn touch so I can update my damn signature. Here's the rant part. As I'm sitting there thinking how much I want to be touched the song from Rocky Horror Picture Show came to mind: "Touch-a, touch-a, toucha-, TOUCH ME!!" Worse yet, I'm now making up new lyrics to it:

Touch-a, touch-a, touch-a, touch me

I want my sweet, darling man here

Thrill us, chill us, approve us,

(I'm not sure what to say here instead of "creature of the night" though...)

Worse still, I will have a new version of the entire song by the time I'm back from Seattle. Heck, I may even rewrite the whole show.

Michael Rainey was ill the day the earth stood still

But he told us when we could wed...

Actually Ontario, California was started by a guy from Brockville, ON. Built up a get deal of that part of California, I wish I could remember his name (sorry, senility is slowly setting in :) ).

I like your song lyrics, Creature of the night...Waiting's such a fright..Want to get some tonight...It'll be alright... (that's all I can think of right now).

Michael Renne? Who was the witness? Gort? I now pronounce you husband and wife, you may Klaatu barada nikto.

Hey everyone.. so some of you may remember my MOH fiasco... well her friend, the other bridesmaid, just wrote me an email.

Hey Liz

I just thought that I would let you know that Jenny is really, really hurt and upset by the way you left without speaking with her.

Jenny takes friendship very, very seriously and gets hurt quite often from a lot of her friends.

She really wished you reached a little further out to her (perhaps a phone call) before you left.

She said if you had called and expressed that you really wanted to see her before you left she would have come to your going away party, but she felt like it really didn’t matter to you either way. We spoke about this last night.

This is probably based off of the fact that apparently when you asked her to step down as the maid of honour, you started off by saying “I don’t know if our friendship will withstand this,” or something along those lines, which gave her the impression that you had no faith in the strength of it at all.

I tried to explain that you thought you did reach out with the text and e-vite, but Jenny thought that was very impersonal and since you sent them to everyone else as well it was obviously not specific to her.

She’s really hurting thinking that her friendship meant so little to you.

If that is not the case, I think you should try to get that across to her.

A written letter or a phone call would probably be best. (Not email).

Just a suggestion.

This is such a 'whatever'. She is so about herself. So now if you want to keep the friendship you have to jump through a bunch of hoops.

If you had just done everything right, paying particular attention to each of her feelings she would have come running to your party.

Whateverrrrr :innocent:
