we got it!!!!

Okay so Renato got to the Consulate at 7:30 this morning. He was pretty far back in the line but because of Carol he knew the order of the documents. He was the second one to turn his in. He waited 30 minutes and was called tot he interview room. he said the guy was not friendly but was not mean either. He walked in and the first thing the guy said was "we have a problem!!!" Poor Renato. We put the dates that each visa was issued and each time he entered the usa but we did not put when he left. Renato just had to guess. So after he fixed that he waited to be called into the room again. He asked nothing about our relationship. He asked why Renato practically lived in the usa using a tourist visa (he was a tennis player.) He asked about his degree and about the college we went to. Now this is where the problem comes in. We used my brother in law as a cosponsor. I sent in his last 3 tax returns. He makes way above th elevel needed. The only problem was he filed jointly with his wife (my sister). My sister is a housewife so none of the income was hers. So to prove it was all Michaels income they needed his w2. Renato said the man started to loosen up and said "I am going to be flexible with you. You are "semi approved right now. You need to go call Stephanie and have her fax his W2 before 1:00 Rio time." So Renato went to the closest payphone and called me. I could tell something was wrong when he called and I though oh no he has been denied!!! Well he explained and I had to leave work.....call my sister...go get Michaels w2 and Fax it to the consulate officer. Once I called Renato and let him know I had faxed it he went back to the consulate. The lady went and checked and said everything wa sokay and they would send it to him on Monday! What a morning......but we are so happy and he will be home on Thursday night

Congrats again! That´s the treatment I was expecting from people in Rio. They are never too nice, just proper and inquisitive. I hope when my turn comes I´ll do everything correctly ´cus I get super nervous about things if they say something else is required.
