There is no set number of questions you have to be asked in your interview. The officer should ask as many as it takes to be sure that everything is valid. Some interviewers are probably more thorough than others. Unfortunately, though, the mood your interviewer was in could also affect it. Although I'd hope (s)he wasn't taking out her bad day on you.

I have heard that there a couple of women who interview in London who ask lots and lots of questions compared to most, but i guess as long as you are prepared for these questions it really doesnt matter, even though a lot of the questions dont seem to make sense.

Each interview is different based on the circumstances of the individual case, the interviewer's attitude and in no small portion, the demeanor of the visa applicant. Bureaucrats don't usually take kindly to any display of attitude other than friendly respect. If any of the attitude displayed in your post above came through in the interview, that could explain a lot. (Not that the attitude isn't understandable. It's just better to stow it until afterwards.)

My husband is an Iranian chemical engineer and I am an American admin assistant. It really doesn't matter to the US government what the hell you do, the responsibility to assure the US government you do not become of charge of the state FALLS ON THE PETITIONER. In your case, your fiancee.

As for not having your affidavit notarized....Long before I found this board, I had to read and reread at time the instructions given to me by the USCIS. Long and complicated for sure, but not total rocket science and not impossible.

Just try to get the affidavit corrected and resubmitted.

As other posters have said, I'm not surprised you got a tougher interview if the attitude displayed in your post came across at the interview!!!!!!!!!!!!

I went into my interview fully prepared to answer lots of questions and fully prepared in having used the resources on this website to know that the I-34 should be notarised.

The US Government does not care what your job is.

All they need to know is that you will not become a public charge and this is assessed on the I-34 and corresponding Tax Return(s)

Nor should you generalise about "Online brides"

Do you seriously think that getting a visa issued at some of the other countries is easier than getting a visa issued from the London Embassy?

Yes, the visa process is frustrating.

But I think all of us here were well aware of that when we began our respective journeys.

I suggest that you start reading about the Adjustment of Status process which will await you in the States - the hassles do not stop with the KI visa being granted................

Sounds like you are probably just pending approval, and just need to submit the notarised I-134. Although it is uncommon for London to ask many questions at interview (unless there are obvious red flags), certainly asking if you've met your wife's family is fairly normal. I know this process can seem intrusive, but what they've asked you is nothing compared to some of the stuff they ask at other embassies! And, if you do appear defensive at the interview, the officer is probably going to delve deeper -- they'll think, why is this guy getting in a strop? Is he hiding something? Although you're not trying to hide anything, it's their job to investigate should something seem a bit off.

I understand your frustration that you *just* want to marry your fiancee, we're all in the same boat. I'm the USC and I *just* wanted to take my British husband home (we'd been together for two years, if not married all that time) but I had to jump through the hoops and fill out every form properly. It's not rocket science, but it does require very careful attention to detail. So get that form notarised, double and triple check it, and courier it back to the Embassy.
