Question about montreal after visa approval

How long is the normal wait after visa is approved at Montreal? I have seen some people that have waited 5 days after to receive it. Is there anyway to stay there and pick it up the following day. Our interview is on the 31th of October, I have already given my notice for my place, so I have until the 2nd to move out. We were hoping to receive it by then, not sure what to do now. Any suggestions?????????????????

You used to be able to pick up your passport/visa/envelope the day after your interview in Montreal, but they don't do that anymore. When you have your interview, they tell you to bring an Expresspost Paid envelope to leave with them, so they can mail everything to your home address. Some got theirs within days and others have waited up to 14 days. The express envelope has a tracking # on it, so you can track it once its accepted at the Montreal post office.

I doubt you will receive it within 2 days and like samaci said they don't let you pick it up the next day anymore. I would suggest putting an address on the express envelope to a family member or friend if you won't been in your place anymore. I would suggest making arrangements to stay with someone or at a hotel while you wait for the visa's arrival as well. I just won't gamble that you will get it sent to you in by that Friday and then you will be waiting until the next week to get it.

Our interview was on Weds Oct 10, saw the package on the Canadapost tracking by mid Friday and received it the following Monday...me thinks you will need to hang around your old mailbox :)

Would your current landlord mind checking your box for you until it's received?

PS: ours was a regional package - Que to ON so that may have made a difference in how quick I received it....nothing say Montreal can't take a few days just to get it in the mail.

Also i thought you had to sign for the package when it was delivered, not just placed in your mailbox. ????

I think depends on what province you are in. I'm in Vanc and the post office lady said mine would be National Expresspost, because of where I was. Someone else might have a different answer though.

Yes, in the instructions, it tells you to make sure you get the "signature required" sticker, so someone will need to sign for it when its delivered.

If you're not there to sign for it they bring it back to your local post office and you pick it up and sign for it there.

Could you maybe pay your landlord some extra cash to stay a few extra days?

Mine took about 5 days to arrive in Ontario. Seems like the average time.

Donne moi une poptart!

Maybe this will help: I'm looking at my envelope right now.

Mine was accepted at the post office in Montreal on Oct. 10, and was here in Vanc on Oct 11. I guess it took them a few days to get my package together

On the back of the envelope it explains Regional and National.

Regional: For use within a region of Canada

National: For use between 2 regions within Canada

Mine was a National, and was here within 24 hours of being accepted at the post office in Montreal, and I think I paid about $23.00 for it.

I had our mail forwarded to my inlaw's way before the interview since we also had to vacate and all that jazz; so what we did was to put my friend Sarah's address (with my name on the envelope) and got it there no problem. It doesn't have to be your place, just an address in Canada. Hope this helps.
