Update on Rome

I thought I would give you all an update on what's happening with Rome....

They updated the list yesterday, which was sooner that I had expected. They had really been off schedule of the supposed "update on the 15th and 30th of the month", but it looks like they may be getting back on schedule. Anyhoo, Hicham's case still has "Ready for Adjudication" by it. :(:crying: :crying:

I also frequent immigrate2us.net because there's a couple of people on there going through Rome also. One of the posters currently has a "May" application (our's is August). He said he received an email response from Rome that they aren't even on May yet and might not get to them until NOVEMBER!!!!! This could possibly mean that they may not get to Hicham's application until February or March of next year. I was really hoping that Hicham would be home by our son's second birthday, which is in March. But I don't think that's going to happen. I am SICK to think we may have 6 more months to wait. SICK!!!!! This November will mark 4 years that we've been apart. I don't know how much longer I can take this.

I am going to talk serious with Hicham about me and the baby flying over to see him over Thanksgiving. I feel like if I could see him then...I can make it through to March of next year. I don't care what it costs....I have to see my husband!!!!!!

I think going to visit would do you all a world of good and would be worth the expense or other difficulties which it might cause.

I'm going to put 'the glass is half full" spin on this....getting to the "may" applications in November may not mean your's are automatically pushed back this amount of months. Each month will have different numbers of applicants ech with a different level of difficulty to get through, so Rome could get to you guys sooner than what they estimate (Government offices do like to over estimate the time to protect their backsides)

Also- the worse? It's not resolved for another 6 months? it sounds impoosible, but the end is close....and going to visit will relieve some of the difficulty in waiting.

all I can really say however is you know we are here for you (F)

I agree that you should definitely go visit. It will give you something to look forward to and when you get home you can look forward to him coming here.

Thanks so much for the optimism. I haven't seen Hicham since November of LAST YEAR!!! I've been looking at ticket prices all day and it's going to cost close to $2K. There are some that are a little cheaper, but I'm willing to pay a couple hundred extra dollars to keep from having a 15 hour lay over with an 18 month old...you know?

I know that Hicham misses us and wants to see us, but I know he's going to say that we should wait because they could have an answer at any time and well...$2k is alot of money...but, I think you are all right in that it would help with the time that we've got left. I don't have words for how much I miss my husband.

I have to wait until Sunday to talk to Hicham about it. I've got the green light from work to take the 2 weeks off during the Thanksgiving Holiday (means I can squeeze in two extra days)! I've scratched up the funds.

I'm sure my family is going to hit the roof about it. They just don't like me traveling so far with the baby.

I'll keep you guys posted. Thanks for being there for me!

I like the new Avatar too! I found some really funny ones, but I might not be able to use them here.

Besides, I'm trying to keep up with you, Doodle and MBP!

Oh I am already planning my thanksgiving and my christmas avatar! I'm always trying to keep up with Jenn!

I'm not a big advocate of going into debt or cutting into much needed savings - esp when you are months away from a decision, but in this case, i think its a wise investment for all of you. GO!!!!!

IMO I think if you tough it out and wait you will be happier in the end. I know it seems hard when you think about it being 6 months away but you have to keep yourself from thinking that way and take it day by day. You don't the special circumstances regarding peoples cases and you could very well get the visa before the other guy does even though he filed before you. They don't give them out in order after all.

I will also advise you to think practically and not romanticly. I know you miss him (I didn't see my husband for 19 months) but you will need the extra cash once you arrive. Make the best out of webcams and skype for now. You will be happy you did later.

VJ Hours - I am available M-F from 10am - 5pm PST. I will occasionaly put in some OT for a fairly good poo slinging thread or a donut.

Apparently not on international flights. Unless you mean he could ride on my lap? Oh no! Our boy is really tall and HEAVY! And very active. I don't think he and I would survive him riding in my lap for 7-9 hours.

Hicham and I really labored over the baby and I making the trip over Thanksgiving...and we've decided to tough it out and wait. I was going to have to still pay the two weeks of tuition for our son's school, plus the plane tickets. Since we are going to have to buy another car when Hicham comes home and we don't know how long it will take him to find a job, we felt like our expenses just couldn't take the hit. Hicham said he wished that he could close his eyes and we were there! But when he said that he couldn't put us on a plane one more time and watch us leave...I knew it was best to wait until we could go and bring him home!

It was such a tough decision, because my heart wants my hubby. Inshallah, our time won't be much longer. I'm hoping that with the holidays fast approaching that time will fly and we will get the news that his case is approved and can come home.

Thank you all for being soooooo supportive! :)
