Our interview in MTL is 11/8, and Doug will be going without me. I went thru the Board & recent MTL Reviews and put this summary together for him; thought it might be helpful for others....and feel free to add comments or correct me if something's wrong!

Interview Packet Compilation from reviews:

- Packet 4 Interview Letter

- Med Exam Packet (Unopened)

- Birth Cert (copy & original)

- Passport

- 2 Passport Photos

- XpressPost Mailer: make sure you get the correct size (314mm x 349mm), fill out your address & make note of your tracking number

- DS-156 (signed original and 2 copies INCLUDING BARCODE)

- DS-156K (unsigned)

- Divorce Cert (original only)

- Police Cert (original & 1 copy)

- I-134 Packet & Letter of Intent (original only)

Tips:

1. Get there early (7:30am for morning appt.s)! Check in with Interview Letter, they give you an alpha letter (A or E or…) & a number * tell you to go downstairs & wait for elevator

2. Guard calls letters to elevator; will be told to sit in waiting room

3. Cashier calls you up & gives you a slip to go pay at window 14 (you leave your paperwork with her)

4. After paying $100 (cash) return to lady with your paperwork; she’ll want your birth certificate (original & 1 copy), Medical, XpressPost mailer, photos, divorce certificate, police certificate & I-134 Packet (Affidavit of Support). She will ask you to sign the DS-156k(s) in front of her. She puts you in system, then scans your fingerprints & sends you back to the waiting room (tip: if you have trouble with fingerprinting, go wash your hands)

5. You’ll be called up and told to go to Door #(?)

6. Room is slightly larger than a closet, Interviewer is behind glass….will scan your print again, ask you questions…note: some don’t tell you you’re approved, they just send you on your way….be sure to ask if they don’t.

- How’d you meet?

- Where do you plan on living?

- What do you do for a living? What does your fiancee’ do?

- What are your plans for the wedding?

- Ever stopped at the border or crimes?

- Questions about my family

- When we saw each other last and what we did

• Have all the docs ready (including 2 copies of each item). It's better to take more than what they ask and I mean take all evidences, etc.

• Be well organized

• No food, drinks, or bags-- please no bags!

• No electronics of any kind!

• If possible, make a trip the previous night and know where you are to go. The entrance to the US Cons is from the side street

• Stay COOL

• Smile and use the Yes Sir/Madam, Thank You, Good morning / afternoon. This stuff still works to date and gets a lot of work done, easily!
