How do you know you got the visa

I think that their saying raise your right hand is a danmed good indication because if you didn't get it they stand at the window and hand you your passport back and grab for waiver papers in front of them. I'm only saying this because in the consulate reviews most everyone who got the visa states they were asked to raise their right hand, and no-one who was refused ever said they had to, me included. So folks when they say raise your right hand give them the biggest grin you can muster because your on your way unless you totally melt down and screw-up with the Qs and As.

Right now I am the only one appealing and I would like to keep it that way, it makes me feel so special that they want to keep me around but send you on your way. :P

I got asked to raise my right hand...I felt like I was on the peoples court.

Oh and I have a real lame problem where I don't know my left from my right (yea I know - pathetic) and I wrote something in the air and was like: "ahh thats my right!" the gentlemen kind of smiled but must have also thought: "What kind of idiots are we letting into the Country?" lol

Lol When my wife was denied the only thing that stupid woman didn't do was spit in our faces as we left with her bogus judgement, so that was a pretty good indication we didn't get it.

My wife has been back since June 5, 2007. Now we're just livin' man, L I V I N :)

OK I blew it, those who posted they had to did and those who didn't say so didn't, ####### I'm starting to think like the folks at the consulate asuming and jumping to incorrect conclussions. Sorry folks back to the drawing board with this one.

I wasn't asked to raise my right hand... or my left, for that matter. Though, the consular officer could've asked me to dance on one foot like a monkey because I was that stressed at the interview

I dont recall raising any hand! I think she just said congratulations, come back in a few hrs (was same day service then)

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied, that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1

Yeah, we didn't get that. But how many of us who went through the Vancouver consulate heard "Everything appears to be in order" when we were approved? When I heard it, I remembered reading it here, and I knew I was approved.

aye, I don't remember raising my hand either, but it might have happened! I didn't believe I was approved until after I was given the "what to do after you get the visa" information sheet!

When we in Montreal last week, right after closing the door behind us, we were asked to raise our right hand before he started the interview.
