K1- is age a factor?

hey everyone, i have a question regarding the age of the US citizen filing a K1 petition.

does anyone know, or have any opinions, on whether or not the visa is less likely to be approved if the USC is under the age of 20. if the petitioner is say 18 or 19 and is a full time college student but has a parent that is willing to co-sponsor a 21 year old UK citizen for a Fiance visa, is the fact that the couple are so young going to be held against them?

any thoughts at all would be greatly appreciated, i look forward to hearing from you all.

thank you

Paul

As long as you're legally able to marry, you'll be fine. Sometimes it causes problems if the age difference is significant, but what you described sounds pretty normal to me.

Age can be a consideration. The consulate looks at many aspects of the petition to make a decision.

As you're both young I honestly don't see why your ages would matter as much as the fact you have a genuine, comitted relationship (and you appear to have full backing of your fiancee's parents - always a bonus!) and that you've met and continue to have an ongoing relationship.

If you were 54 and she was 17 then yeah, I'd say age would be a factor!

The fact the petitioner is so young could be taken in consideration, but with your dad to co-sponsor her, it should be fine. The requirement is legal age to marry.

Hey sounds like my situation. I'm 19 and USC is 21. It better not be a problem or I'm going to be really pissed! Lots of young people on here doing it. If you have valid evidence of relationship and all your ducks are in a line there should be no problem. At least your not going through a terrible consulate that just look for ANY excuse for a denial. i haven't heard too much bad about the UK one. check with other people from that one. should not be a problem!

When we filed I was 19 (the USC) and my husband 22. We are now 21 and 24 ... case is complete just waiting for an interview. At times I wonder if our age is a factor .. but they say no it's just the embassy is reallly backlogged. Who knows right ? Our age is not something we can change .. obviously our relationship has lasted the 2 years and 1 month that we have been going through this immigration process.

Reunited and it feels so good ....

thank you all so much, it was great to hear so much positivity from everyone and i really respect that no one sent in any messages telling me i AM too young. truth is we have been the best of friends and together for damn near 4 years and we have survived everything so far, i think that hopefully they would look at the fact that although we are young, we have stayed together for so long and thats not really all that normal for people our age, so i`m just hoping everything goes well!

thanks again everyone, this website is a god send.

take care

Paul
