Okay, noon's not so bad. I should be out of my interview well before then, I think. I generally handle jetlag quite well anyhow. I mainly want to have the room so that I can let y'all know whether I passed or failed. :P

The word "fail" is not allowed in any discussion of Montreal! :bonk:

Only positive thoughts. You WILL be fine!

Wow, the W Hotel right on Victoria Square is running a great deal for those of you staying longer in April. We are going 4/11-4/15 and it's a rate at $116/night or basically stay 3 nights get the 4th free on hotels.com. I was going to book the Dauphin based on everything here, but the difference was only $8/night so why not?

Anyone offhand know how the parking is at Dauphin? website says limited parking and i emailed them last week but i never got a reply. Just want to make sure we have a spot rather then leaving the car out at one of those 30/day lots with no security.

They will refer you to the parking garage on the block, which I believe was $18/day. No idea about the security there - they may have it, I just didn't see any.

They charged me $20/day and the parking is 2 blocks away in the Convention centre. Its an underground parking lot but not sure about security.

W Hotels are awesome!

I basically lived at that W hotel for 8 weeks in the summer of 2008 for work. Its a fun place. Definitely for the trendy crowd. Otherwise, you might get disturbed by the lounge that turns into a club at night. I personnally love it. But definitely not for everybody. If you just want comfort without the frills, go to Queen Elizabeth, which is probably the most storied hotel in Montreal.

Nice to officially be at this stage of the game and to be thinking about which hotels. I went through all the posts and found them helpful. Some people got smoking deals, maybe it had to do with the time of year but Montreal in July is pricey. I haven't checked for gov't rates or BCAA etc but will have to do that. Obviously a good clean hotel that is walking distance is what we all want.

I'll check out a few more of these and figure out which may work out best. Many are just a few minutes walk from the Embassy and in July in early am, Montreal should be nice.

I'd like to throw in another recommendation for Hotel Dauphin. We got there on Saturday and checked out on Monday, and it was (despite the interview jitters) one of the most relaxing and amazing hotels we've ever stayed at.

I know it's not a hotel, but I'd like to throw another recommendation out there, as well: We ate at the most amazing pasta place called La Popessa on the corner of the Convention Centre. (Not sure of street names, unfortunately) If you enjoy ANY kind of pasta, this is definitely an awesome place to eat. The price was low (we paid ~$20 for both of us, and that included the pasta, bread and a drink for each of us) but the quality was simply amazing AND everything is cooked to order - you walk in, pick the pasta, pick the sauce, add whatever you'd like to it, and they cook it right there. :)

Thanks for the pasta tip - my husband loves the stuff! Will definitely look for it.

Congrats on getting your interview date.

The good side of getting a July interview is that Montreal is very exciting during that month (lots of festivals, good energy, etc.); the downside is that it will be pricey. Maybe you'll get an ok deal, but you're not at all likely to get a great deal. I know because I lived in Montreal for many years, and travel there still about once per year.

Oh, and early am in July *is* nice. I felt sorry for all the March people...esp. the couple that was huddling in the cold with a 5-day-old baby!
