Can anyone give me some infos? I am going to get a passport for K1 visa but Im confused if its really necessary to attend the CFO seminar in cebu to have a CFO certificate before applying for a passport? Or can I do the CFO later after I have my passport done?

It is not necessary to get a CFO certificate before applying for passport. However, if you put "migration" or "to join fiance" as purpose of travel, the DFA will require you to submit more documents, among them, the CFO certificate.

Less documents will be required if you simply put "tourism" as purpose.

You can get the CFO certificate after passport issuance or even after K1 visa issuance.

You will need to passport so they can put the CFO certificate in it and definitely will need it for the visa so don't hesitate, apply! Good luck

Passport-Visa-CFO. In that order. You could do the CFO before the visa except you'd have to go back after you get your visa to get the stamp on it.

As other posters have stated, just tell them that you are applying for a tourist passport and you will have no problem getting your passport. Now, there are two parts you have to do to leave the country. One is the seminar at The St. Mary Euphrasia Foundation-Center for Overseas Workers (SMEF-COW) who conduct the seminars and then the stamp that you get from the CFO after you have your certificate from the seminar. Once you have your certificate, the stamp is just a formality and does take hardly any time at all. The big one that can be a problem is the seminar. I would highly recommend that you do this while you are waiting for your medical and interview. It can sometimes be a major problem with the requirement for "other documents as may be required". Some people breeze right through it, while others have to good back several times to finish it.

You should get your passport as soon as you can.

DO I NEED TO CHANGE MY PASSPORT STATUS FROM TOURIST TO FIANCEE IF I DO THAT? IM AFRAID THE DFA MIGHT MAKE IT HARD FOR ME IF I DO THAT. WILL THE PURPOSE MATTER AT ALL? WILL IT BE SHOWN IN THE PASSPORT? DOES THE PASSPORT FOR TOURIST REASON DIFFERENT FROM FIANCEE REASON PURPOSES?

WILL THEY NOT QUESTION ME THAT, why i have a tourist passport wherein i intend to get a fiancee visa?

It is the same identical passport regardless of what you tell them it is for. It does not list on the passport what it is for. If anyone asks after you get it, don't forget that trip to Disney Land in Hong Kong that you were planning on taking but cancelled. Oh shoot what to do now, I already have a passport LOL. Don't worry, no one should question it. Shoot, my fiancee was even asked for hers at the CFO seminar even though she shouldn't have had it yet.
