My husband and I drove from Toronto to Phoenix this week. Took a little over 3 days in all and that was pretty steady driving except for pit stops for the dog, and food for the people, and sleep for everyone.

We crossed at Sarnia/Port Huron MI very late on Monday night. We had no problems whatsoever with the border crossing (I am USC, my husband is Chilean citizen, Canadian PR) and they didn't even ask for documents on the dog we brought with us. I was very excited about that going smoothly. My passport is still in my prior name and they didn't even question us about our relationship or anything. I guess him having a B1/B2 visa valid until 2010 comes in handy. We had no weather issues except for a few thunderstorms in MO, but otherwise was clear sailing. The only problem was our numb arses by the time we got to Phoenix. (A little side note: This is my second cross country move in my VW Jetta and all I can say, is that car just rocks!)

I got the first apartment I applied for and we spent the next 2 days trying to rebuy all the stuff I just finished buying when I moved to Toronto 2 years ago. I really hope I never have to relocate again.

My husband returned to Toronto earlier today and we will begin the US immigration process within the next couple weeks (after he gets his passport type photos and stuff to me) and I am just crossing my fingers that the U.S. is better to him than Canada was to me.

09/19/2007: Withdrew CIC application (they still hadn't processed anything)

10/01/2007: Moved back to U.S.

02/13/2008: NOA-1 received (107 days)

07/02/2008: I-130 approved

07/22/2008: AOS filed including EAD and AP

07/25/2008: NOA-1s for all 3 received

08/20/2008: Biometrics appointment

08/22/2008: Received RFE for Affadivit of Support and Medical

10/21/2008: Submitted I-865W in lieu of co-sponsor and medical info to NSC

11/14/2008: online case status not updated since filing of AOS in July 2008

01/20/2009: Received another RFE for Affadavit of Support Info

02/02/2009: Responded to RFE with brand new AOS based on 2008 tax return (if that doesn't shut them up, dunno what will)

02/19/2009: EAD card received in mail (no updates on Online Case Status ever made)

02/23/2009: AP received (again, no online updates)

02/26/2009: Received interview appointment letter for 4/6/09

04/06/2009: AOS approved for unconditional GC

04/21/2009: GC received

Here's my K-1 Timeline:

October 2006 - I-129F sent

10/24/2007 - INTERVIEW DATE!!!!!....APPROVED!!

10/30/2007 - Visa in hand!

AOS Timeline:

1/30/08 - Sent AOS pkg Priority Mail with USPS

3/12/08 - Biometrics taken

3/29/08 - EAD and AP in hand for me and my son

5/21/08 - Email-GC on its way!...RFE for my son's application

5/27/08 - GC arrives!!!

7/02/08 - Sons GC arrives!!!

ROC TIMELINE

3/23/10 - ROC sent!

3/29/10 - NOA1

4/22/10 - Biometrics Appt for me and my son

6/30/10 - Email saying card production ordered for me and my son

7/6/10 - Letter in the mail saying cards will arrive within 60 days

7/10/10 - Both cards received!

Glad to hear you made it back safely... We will be making a similar trip next year (Toronto to Las Vegas) as soon as we get an interview date (come on Montreal!!).... We will be travlelling with 2 cats...and plan on a 3 to 4 day drive... If you have a chance feel free to PM me, would love to hear if you have any recommended places to stop along the way..Did you only go to Pet Friendly hotels? or did you "forget" to mention you had your pet with you?..LOL
