I miss my family and friends, filipino hospitality, kapitbahay coz our neighbors here seldom go out they prefer to stay home and all busy working, lol! I also miss riding in jeepneys and taxis esp going to malls...yes i do miss our kasambahay too. Filipino foods/products can be easily buy here coz there are stores and restau and most of the time I cook our food which my husband love to eat esp adobo , pansit bihon and canton. My inlaws said that i should be "americanized" but it seems I influenced them most ( filipinized, lol). But i dont have any single regret to be here coz like all you guys Iam happy to be with my husband!

Hi John and Marlene,

How did you get inside Wowowee? My fiance will be coming here and I want to take him to wowowee. It would be fun!!!

We are TFC subscribers. We got the reservation through our kapamilya membership. It wasn't easy even then. We had to make a few phone calls and send a few emails. They seem to always be fully booked. With the reservations through TFC, there's no standing in line--you just go inside to the security desk with your confirmation number.

There are so many things/foods that i miss, i don't know where to start! Let's see...

For things, I miss

> going to a salon and getting a foot spa (without feeling guilty - because it's so expensive here)

> having food ready when I get home (not planning a menu and cooking it yourself - I'm a lousy cook. Never cooked till I got here.)

> having someone to clean the house, do the laundry and iron your clothes ( :crying: )

> hanging out with friends and laughing out loud (and i mean loud!)

> speaking tagalog

> going to a neighbor's house for no reason (chikahan lang)

For foods, Imiss

> crispy pata

> tocilog, longsilog, tapsilog

> LOMI

> sinigang

> Mcdo's spaghetti

> leche flan

> lola's bakareta

> burong santol

> hilaw na mangga w/ bagoong (green mangoes here doesn't taste the same)

btw: we tried to smuggle in 2 pieces of manggang hinog last april... we almost got caught  . The dog got a whiff of it's sweet scent and barked at our luggage so the customs officer made us go through the agriculture area. As our bags were going through the xray machine, my heart was beating so fast. But for some reason, nothing came up on their xray so they jst let us through. Boy, I wanted to run right after they said "you're clear" but my hubby tooks his sweet time walking, saying that he doesn't want us to look guilty. Anyways, we tried to germinate the seed but faied.

> bbq (the ones that they sell on the street when night falls)

I have to stop. This is plain torture...I never realized that I lived quite a pampered life back home. :o

Yes, theres Jollibee here in Las Vegas, Chowking, and Red Ribbon too, they are in one building which is entirely Filipino, theres a bakery which you can buy pandesal and pan de coco (my favorite), a grocery store, PNB remittance center and other balikbayan services, its a one stop Filipino place. I love going there it feels like im back in Manila.
