Friend of mine is coming in on a IR visa and was wondering if the IO at the POE automatically stamps the I-551 in their Passport upon arrival.

If not how do you have evidence of you have a GC coming in the mail?

Suppositely people are required to carry GCs at all times.

If the IO doesn't stamp the I-551 has anyone asked for the stamp?

K1 denied, K3/K4, CR-1/CR-2, AOS, ROC, Adoption, US citizenship and dual citizenship

From what i know, at the time of his/her arrival at a port of entry, then he/she will receive a temporary I-551 Stamp and then later a Green Card by mail

Immigration Process

2007-02-22 **I-130 Sent to VSC

2007-07-02 **I-130 APPROVED at USCIS- CSC

2007-10-10 **CASE COMPLETED at NVC

2007-11-15 **INTERVIEW DATE. APPROVED at USEM!!!

2007-12-02 **Arrival from MNL to JFK (NYC)

2007-12-10 **Visit to SSA

The IR visa is stamped at POE and it then becomes a temporary I-551 valid for 12 months. The green card comes long before that period expires.
