Okay, so I had all the information I needed to get for my packet 3, which, well Im not approved yet, so I can't say Im in a hurry. My old computer died and well it took alllllll my files with it.. sob...

ANYWAYS.. lol, I looked on the RCMP website to start getting ready to have my name check done, canada wide.

The FAQ says : "How can I obtain a Canadian police certificate (record check by name and date of birth only, not fingerprint based)?

In the Montréal area, please contact your local police service."

Meaning I can just go down the street to any police station, or I have to go downtown to their main one. Anyone from Montreal that has done this that could help ?

Thanks :o)

Well for people in Montreal, there's a place you can go to : 200 Rene Levesque(near Place des Arts metro station). It costs 40$(although they charged me 31.80$) and it is tax deductable for US tax returns. It took a whole 5 minutes and it will be mailed to me within 5 business days.

For the vacinnation records, I went to a CLSC and brought my health booklet that has all my vaccination records in it. They said everything was up to date but that they did not write letters that confirmed it. Anyone know if the booklet will suffice as proof that my vaccinations are up to date ? At the medical that is. I have my DCT(Tetanus and dipthera toxoids), my MMR(Mumps, Measles and Rubella), I've had varicella when I was 1 and a half. I've had all hepatitis vaccines and even polio which I don't even think is necessary for my age group. I haven't had the influenza shot though, but apparently it's not the time of year for it so they don't give it. Am I missing anything ? Once the influenza shots are "in season" should I get one, or will they give it to me at the medical if needed ?

There must be a RCMP detachment fairly close to the USA consulate in Mtl? As i have read a few reviews where they did a mad dash to a RCMP stn and got the cert right away. Anyone have any info on this??

Canadians Visiting the USA while undergoing the visa process, my free advice:

1) Always tell the TRUTH. never lie to the POE officer

2) Be confident in ur replies

3) keep ur response short and to the point, don't tell ur life story!!

4) look the POE officer in the eye when speaking to them. They are looking for people lieing and have been trained to find them!

5) Pack light! No job resumes with you

6) Bring ties to Canada (letter from employer when ur expected back at work, lease, etc etc)

7) Always be polite, being rude isn't going to get ya anywhere, and could make things worse!!

8) Have a plan in case u do get denied (be polite) It wont harm ur visa application if ur denied, that is if ur polite and didn't lie! Refer to #1

If you can get things done through public health or your family doctor, do so. Influenza season I think starts in another month and you should get it done. The booklet will suffice for vaccination records. I too would like to know more about the Gendarmerie Royale Du Canada office in MTL, can anyone help?

I called my local police which is what the RCMP website said to do, and they said they don't do it themselves. They gave me a list of numbers to call, and the one with the adress above, was the best one.

If memory serves, the number was 514-285-2246
