Hello everyone! My husband went to get his driver's license (here in Alabama) and we were told that he needed an I-94 that was valid for at least 6 months. He came in on a K-1, so his I-94 was only valid for 90 days. Has anyone gotten their license in Alabama without paying the $300 to extend the I-94? If so, how?

Thanks for your help!

You may not be able to get it until your husband has his green card. States vary as far as drivers licenses. I dont think you can extend the I-94 since the visa is only valid for 90 days.

You cannot extend the I-94 for a K-1 visa. K-3 holders tend to have I-94 cards valid much longer and can use it to apply for a license.

K-1s in many states need first apply for Green-Card, and EAD. The EAD card or Green-Card can then be used to apply for a driver's license.
