Hi all,

I'm waiting for the Vermont SC to process my K1 visa... The received it August 24th.

I'm being sent to the United States (NYC) for 3 days for business (I'm a financial journalist based in Singapore). I'm a Canadian citizen (was born in Canada, not naturalised).

Can I enter the USA without damaging my K1 status?

I know that getting another visa while waiting for your k1 visa can render the k1 void. But as I understand it, Canadians do not require a visa to enter the United States (I've entered more than 40 times, at least).

Thanks!!

You should be fine. Just in case, you might want to consider proof that you will be returning. Although, if you show that you are here on business, its not likely to come up.

I doubt it's going to be a problem. It's still unclear whether the CBO have anything in their system anyway stating that you have a pending K-1. Either way, when questioned as to why you're travelling, you're going to be saying business anyway, so this is not going to be a problem. Canadians fly all the time to the US for business purposes so it won't be an issue. Hopefully your SO can come to wherever you're travelling to and spend a few days with you!
