OK this post is in desperation as we have totally lost hope.

We have been waiting for ever since the last communication. We were supposedly awaiting a doctors appointment, interview. Basically our case was with the US consulate in the UK. NOW nothing... We have not heard from them in months, my letters havent been answered etc etc.

I think we have made a mistake, missed a form or something. Firstly is there any way of finding out where we are?

If we have messed up can we recitfy it and carry on?

Would it be better to get a solicitor involved to take over from us?

Do we have to start all over again :(?

Please can you answer these questions for me, sorry for the vaguness of this post its 7am just needed to get on this.

You need to figure out what happened to your case. The petitioner can contact the embassy in London to find out what stage its at. You should be able to call them via phone. If you turned in packet 3 and were waiting for packet 4, there is a Dept of State number you can call, though I dont know what it is. Someone in the UK forum may have it.

If the embassy is unresponsive it might be time to contact your elected representative

This is really unlike London, btw. Are you completely sure that the case made it to the consulate? Meaning did the NVC give you a London case number and the date it was sent over? I have heard of cases being put on admin review at NVC so this is why I ask.

If you're sure its at the consulate, did you receive packet 3? You mention you were awaiting a 'doctors appointment, interview'. Packet 3 gives you instructions how to make an appt for the medical. Have you done that (or did you never receive packet 3)? If you did receive packet 3, did you return all the forms PLUS the checklist (or just the forms)? London will not schedule an interview until they have that checklist.

You may have the US citizen call the DOS stateside and tell them exactly what's going on (and that the embassy are non responsive) and see what they suggest.

The DOS' number: ( 202) 663 1225.

But if you can answer the questions above, that may give us an idea as to what is going on, and save you a call to DOS.
