Employment Letter

I was wondering how long you should give your employer to supply you with the employment verification letter before asking about it again? I hate to nag about it, so I was thinking maybe waiting two weeks and then just asking the secretary if she'd had a chance to ask the boss for the letter yet. I work in a tiny office, but it's part of a pretty big college, so I know they're busy with other important tasks.

We provided my husband's (the USC) boss with a "draft" of the letter so that all he had to do was get it done on letterhead and sign it.

Same here. I gave her the draft, she revised it and signed it within the hour.

I know Bee had to go to his HR department and request the letter, but it took them a little under a week to get it written up for him.

I'd say two weeks is reasonable.

I didn't give them an exact draft, just a list with all the information I would need on it. I think I'll ask about it Monday, since that would be the two week mark. I just hope the secretary didn't forget to give it to him, or he didn't forget to do it.

Why not show up in the office or (in the face of the individual), that will supply it? A smile and a request may get it in your hand instantly.
