babysitting job question

I have been having a really hard time finding a job. I have been unemployed for quite some time. I talked to my stepdad about it and he said that he would employ me to babysit his daughter (pick her up from school and such) He already pays someone to do this but he said since I am in such a bind at the moment with this whole k-1 thing that he will let me. Well this is great news for me because I have only been getting income selling things on ebay. He said that he would pay me x amount a week. So I have a couple of questions.

Would the consulate see this as legit work? I mean it would be a steady income. NOT a big income but $100-$200 a week depending on how much I work.

And if it is considered legit work how would I prove working? Would he have to pay me in checks and I would have to photocopy the checks as payment and have them go with my bank statement showing my deposits?

And how would the employer letter work? I mean I can't refuse money and paying work. THANKS! any help would be lovely!

Sounds like you might want to consider a cosponsor.

I think if you're self-employed it explains on the Affidavit for Support how you prove your income and such.

Oh dear here we go again lol. I already have a co-sponsor (which has nothing to do with my question). Thank you for taking your time though.

If you are getting paid and have it in writing by your step-dad (and are paying taxes on it), it is legit work.

and, since you already have a co-sponsor, at least this babysitting job shows your willingness to earn money. I know this is not sound advise, but every bit counts ;)

Sure wiser members will chip in their .02

Peace, L.

LOL, sorry! My bad! Looks like you've got most of your ducks in a row. But like I said, I think it tells on the Affidavit for Support everything you need. Good luck to you!!

Thanks so much for taking your time to answer my question guys! I mean he obviously isn't some big coperation with fancy letterheads and such so do you think just a normal employer letter would work -the fancy letter head? And I could just take copies of the checks he writes?

How are you going to exist on a couple hundred bucks a week when your fiancee gets here!

Adjusting status cost $1010 alone!

Hope you have a rich and giving co sponsor!

We aren't going to be living on our own. I'm going to be going to school all we would have to worry about is actual living expenses (####### that we want or need). Once everything pans out with him being able to work and me having a part time job + school we can get out on our own. I don't have a rich co-sponsor at all. I just have a really amazing family who started out young, crazy, and in love like we are and are willing to give us a wing to lay under until we are stable. We already have money for the AOS saved.. goodlord is the new fee expensive. My only concern right now is getting him here. :)

If you have a well qualified co-sponsor, and you are a full-time student, why do you believe you need to be employed for the I134 to be approved?

Have you read something that makes you believe such?

This is not what the OP was asking for help with. Please keep judgemental comments such as this to yourself.

Thank you.

Sure is as I pay taxes and don't like seeing people end up on welfare!

USCIS should do away with co sponsors. No money! No honey!

Again, completely off topic and totally irrelevant. Welfare and co-sponsors are completely unrelated and bringing that into the topic of conversation is out of line. Please keep to the topic at hand. Last warning or this topic will be locked.

Beckypua very intellectual of you. Me having a co-sponsor has nothing to do with you or welfare. It's really great to hear that life has gone so well for you! CONGRATS! This topic can be glady locked. I am sick of ignorant people on this forum with ignorant answers. As they say what goes around comes around.

As an afterthought throw away your computer and spend some time in your bathtub of riches. Take a good long soak. You're going to need it to wash the black out of your heart. :innocent:
