Hi, I sent my DS-230 about 1-2 weeks ago.

I checked the automated NVC msg today and they said tht "Your checklist was recieved on August 23, please allow 6-8 weeks for review and you will be notified"

1. What do they mean by checklist?

2. And also, how long do they usually take to review ... and do they send you a letter that your case has been completed?

---

I also had one more question aside from this topic..

When the beneficiary starts to recieve the packets...which courier service is this done through? Can anyone tell me the process? Because what if the beneficiary lives alone and is at work all day and not at home to recieve any mail?

PLZ ANSWER WHAT YOU CAN. WOULD REALLY APPRECIATE THE HELP.

hi

By checklist they mean they verifying the forms, feeding it into their systems. Its just an administrative process. These days all the service centres are facing delays due to rush in applications because the new fee got effect into July 30. I am waiting for my DS-230..... You are lucky your DS-230 is submitted... they will take 15 working days to complete the stuff and then ur case will be complete.

And about the mail for the benficiarys address... i wont be able to tell because my wife in US is my choice of address agent.

I called last night and spoke to an operator at the NVC who was really helpful. What the message means is so far they've received what they need fom you for processing. Although it says 6-8 weeks, it usually doesn't take that long. The lady last night says they receive my info on 20/08 and that it will probably be completed first week of September, so much as Jigi said. The lady also reminded me the automated voice service is helpful but doesn't always have the most up to date information, so it does benefit to talk to a live operator sometimes.

It takes about 2 weeks for them to review it. If they don't find anything wrong with it, your case should be completed in early September and they might schedule your appointment with the embassy the second week of September. Check with them again then to find out when your interview will take place.

You're almost there!!!

If I am the beneficiary's choice of address and agent.. does that mean that I will recieve even the packet 3 and 4? meaning the interview letter and all that stuff that comes after the case is completed?

Or will the beneficiary recieve this stuff?

and also.. I didn't send anything with my DS-230 except the bar code paper and the DS-230 part 1 and 2. Is there something else that needed to be sent? They did not ask for anything on the instruction page they sent.. but I heard someone say you have to send a copy of your passport?

im confused. :help:

Hmm... Is Amman the only city with a US embassy in Jordan? If it is, according to the Department of State web site http://travel.state.gov/visa/immigrants/info/info_3176.html this embassy needs the choice of agent to send the following to the NVC (which is packet 3):

Document Requirements

The applicant and each family member who will accompany the applicant to the United States will need to obtain the following original documents or certified copies of the documents listed in this section from an appropriate authority (the issuing entity).

Birth Certificate

Court and Prison Records

Deportation Documentation

Marriage Certificate

Marriage Termination Documentation

Military Records

Photocopy of Valid Passport Biographic Data Page

Police Certificate(s)

All documents that pertain to the applicant’s petition are required, even if they were previously submitted to the CIS with the applicant’s petition.

Translations

Applicants must obtain English language translations of any documents that are written in another language.

The translation must include a statement signed by the translator that states that the:

* Translation is accurate, and

* Translator is competent to translate.

If this is indeed what they need and you didn't send it with the DS-230, you will probably get an RFE. If you do, it would be a good time to start gathering that information now so you can have it ready and send it to them when they ask for it.

Once they complete your case and make your interview appointment at the embassy both, the beneficiary and petitioner, will get packet 4 which is the interview letter.
