IV bill payment

Hi,

as you can see from these timelines, mostly the DS-230 has been generated between 8 and 14 days from when the IV bill was received (in most cases where there's a longer timelag it's because the IV bill hasn't been paid instantly once received). We paid our IV bill the 2nd and they received it the 3rd of August. Thus they have so far had our payment for 24 days or 16 business days and they still haven't entered it into their system. Currently they state that it will take around "25 to 30 business days" to process it. Earlier on they have said on the phone to us that it will take "2 to 3 weeks", "10 to 15 days" and "10 to 15 business days". All those timelines are up. As you can see from the chart in most cases, when the IV bill was sent in at the same time or a week or two befor our IV fee, the fee has been processed in around 8 to 14 days.

So my question is. Did you pay your IV fee by cashier's check or money order? Since this may affect how long it takes for them to process the bill. I'm affraid that what ever we did was the wrong way to do it...

And yes, I feel rather desperate at the moment, since this should be the shortest and the easiest step in the whole process but this seems to be the hardest and most timetaking for us (our I-864 has been approved already two weeks ago!).

We paid with a money order, from a Canadian bank, paid on an American bank.

I can't believe they still haven't cashed your cheque!

I paid by US Postal Money Order. I did that for both the IV Bill and AoS Bill. It does appear to be taking a bit long for you but hang on a little longer. I'm sure they'll get things in order.

Did you use the same method to pay for the AoS Bill? If so then it could just be the NVC being slow.

I used a money order from a company called MoneyGram (www.moneygram.com) bought at the local Safeway down the road.

I had decided against a cashier's check because I suspected that it might take longer if it is treated like an out-of-state check. In principle, of course, a cashier's check is like cash, but I wouldn't at all be surprised if NVC only credits the money if it has actually been transferred to their account. And I've seen some out-of-state checks take a long time depending on which banks were involved. I should emphasize, however, that I do not really know whether there is any foundation in fact for my suspicion.

Ouh, now I see. I read your post but I didn't understand it fully but now I do. It seems as if this has messed them up. Strange since it should only affect USCIS and this is NVC but then again the cashing of all checks are in the same place if I've understood correctly. micky-sabry is actually in the same situation as far as I know, which makes us three (Geist is my wife so thus we have only one application in jointly, that being mine). Apparently this slowness will then affect many others after us in the NVC. I just hope that this doesn't slow down the processing of DS-230 other vice we might be in for a very long wait. Trailmix was quite lucky when they succeeded in getting their IV bill processed right before this mess ...

One thing that I don't understand is that some people (like MegDan) sent in their IV fee after us and it still was processed before our fee. I wonder if NVC has anykind of order in how they accept the money payments or is this too totally random...

I dont know about their order, but i think that was a isolated case,,,... MegDan might be lucky...... The email which they sent me to be Was an EYE -OPENER. Its an word of caution for all of us... i hope now u understand why i posted the email NVC sent to me.

My agent paid with USPS Money order.

Yesterday the auto message for my case changed to IV bill received.

Me thinks you need to bother NVC more.

In my opinion the e-mail from the NVC sounds more like a general statement, like the once USCIS gives. They tell you it's gonna take more time than they think just to be on the safe side and have you off their back for a while.

NVC has been slower lately, it has been really slow with my choice of agent (sent via e-mail), it would be interested to have more experiences on this topic to see if the problem is general or related to few cases.

I have the same mentality as hhk3. I have used USPS money order rather than a cashier's check. I had to think really hard without any suspicion too, basically based it just from a 'hunch' I have inside. I am still waiting for my IV Bill, but I have purchased the money order still from the same place (USPS). Let's see what happens.

Count us on that list as well, I received IV bill on August 3rd, mailed it and it was received and signed for on Monday August 6th and now were

still waiting. Ive used USPS money order, i dont know why its taking this long.

And as far as I know micky-sabry is having the same issue, they too sent the bill in the 3rd. Albeit in this you have to remember that we actually sent it in the 2nd and it was received the 3rd while KaElle (for example) sent it the 3rd and it was received the 6th. Also DEECEE's payment was proceeded rather slowly since it took 16 days.

Oh well, at least we all know who are in this mess that there was nothing we could have done better in order to have quicker prosessing. I'm pretty sure we all just ended in a wrong paper pile. Earlier I thought that maybe it was something we did and for a second it seemed as if USPS payments would be the best way of getting a quick processing but that too turned out to be false. This issue is currently based on luck.

Our cases aren't really abnormal, they are just slow.

I also bought my money order from the US Post Office and the payment was processed without any problems. I also read another post that someone had their cashier's check returned because they didn't consider it a cashier's check. Who knows what's going on with them but it's taking way too long to process anything these days.
