What to do With China P3 Roms

Hi,

We have received Packet 3 from the Guangzhou consulate (pertaining to a CR-1 application) and are collecting the necessary forms. The instruction packet seems to be saying not to send forms to the embassy and to just send the checklist but I am not sure if this is right.

Does anyone have recent experience as to which of the Packet 3 forms should be sent to Guangzhou and which of the forms should not be sent but should simply be brought for the interview?

Also, about Chinese police reports: is one notorized police report from my wife's hometown (where her Hukou is) sufficient for the report? She has been living with me in another city but has never transferred her "residency."

Thanks,

Illlogical

For P-3 return to the consulate:

SEND: OF-169, and DS-230 part 1

SEE: http://guangzhou.usconsulate.gov/visa_packet_forms.html

Yes 1 police report is all that is needed in China.

ALSO: To prepare for the upcoming interview at that consulate, you should Join "A Candle for Love" and study their very compleate FAQ section.

If you got this letter, then follow the instructions to the letter. It says send the DS230 part 1 and the filled out checklist.

http://guangzhou.usconsulate.gov/uploads/i...A/2._OF-169.pdf

If you are confident you'll have all the documents in hand by interview, it is customary to go ahead and check the forms as on hand and return the checklist and DS230 part 1 without delay.

Frankly I'm not certain the instructions are the same if you're filing DCF or IF you're filing DCF because you have no timeline or profile filled out. Please help us help you by filling those in.

One police report with Notarial Translation from the hokou is sufficient.

Correct CR-1 may be tricky for you, your prior post indicates living in China for 4 years, 2 things that Guangzhou loves to hang DCF filers on is IRS RETURNS, and DOMICILE. YOU MUST FILE IRS RETURNS EVERY YEAR UNLESS YOU CAN PROVE THAT YOUR INCOME FALLS BELOW THE AMOUNT SPECIFIED BY THE IRS.

AND THE BIG ONE YOU MUST PROVE YOU MAINTAINED A US DOMICILE OR ARE IN THE PROCESS OF REESTABLISHING DOMICILE AND THAT LIVING IN CHINA WAS A TEMPORARY CONDITION.

USA Domicile is required for the I-864 used for the CR-1 visa.

illogical,

I also had this question but you beat me to it, thanks! I received our P3 from Guangzhou last week and we questioning what to send in. From the instructions it clearly says to send in the checklist (169) and DS-230. If you got what I got, it was a booklet which was the checklist(169), then a separate booklet called form 167, a DS-230 form and an outdated I-864 form. For some reason before receiving the P3 from Guangzhou I was also however confused what to send in since the I-864 came along with the P3, somehow I immediately assumed anything they send was to be returned, I was wrong. So I'll return the Ds-230 and the checklist and thats it.

07-20-07 Mailed Initial I-130 DCF package to Beijing USCIS

07-23-07 (NOA1) DHL Confirmation of Receipt by Beijing USCIS

08-16-07 (NOA2) Received letter from USCIS I-130 is approved and forwarded to Guangzhou

09-02-07 P3 Received

09-11-07 P3 Sent

Hi Nick_UIUC ,

Thanks for your response. I was a bit confused by the old i-864 included in the P3 versus the new one available for download at the Guangzhou consulate website here: http://guangzhou.usconsulate.gov/visa_packet_forms.html

I started a new topic on this subject here:
