The procedure says that for a CR-1 or IR-1 visa the beneficiary needs to send the form DS-230 to NVC either part I or part I + II (depending on the embassy and country), there is no way they will send the file to the embassy before this. Unless you have the I-129F (k3 visa) at NVC than they don't work on that...

fill out your timeline please.

hi all

i think you need to send out DS-230 form to NVC first . when your case is complete and nothing missing , NVC will forward your case to the embassy . Other members can provide you with enough replies especially those who already tried it.

There is no way they will send out a CR1 case to the embassy without processing the DS-230. Your wife needs to call the NVC again to verify this information.

hi Mononoke28

i have learnt something new from what you said....do you want to mean that NVC send out the cases to the embassy even though NVC doesn't get the DS- 230 package ? I thought until nvc gets ds-230 package then they send it out to the embassy! CAN YOU CLARIFY THIS MORE PLEASE

No, you need to read my post again, I never said that. For CR1/IR1 visas, the NVC has to complete the case before sending it to the embassy. And they won't close the case until they receive the DS-230 and the corresponding documents. It's different for K1 & K3 visas.

You can call NVC and listen to automated message.

Chances are, NVC will "complete" your case in about 2 weeks after you send them the last required document.
