Have interview for K-3 visa. How does this effet the CR1?

Our CR1 is in the final stages at NVC. Yesterday we received the Packet 3 and 4 for the interview appointment as a reult of the K-1. That will enable us to be together in October, but it will be the non-immigrant visa. Does anyone know if this would adversely effect the CR1 visa process? If so I think we may be willing to wait for the CR1 so we dont have to go though all of the AOS and EAD processes. Any advice would be most appreciated!

You mean K3, don't you?

Assuming that you indeed mean K3, my wife's case is somewhat similar (see timeline below) in that she had already received the packet 3 for the K3 when the IR1 caught up with it. I'm not quite sure what the exact situation is like for you since I believe in your case the interview is scheduled by the NVC and not the consulate itself (as was the case for us). In any case, I would contact the consulate as soon as possible telling them that you want to postpone the K3 interview until the IR1 comes through. I'm sure that yours is not the first case of this type for them and they can advise you how to proceed.

My wife's USCIS journey:

Go for both and stick with the CR-1.

Have the K3 interview when it comes up.

The way things are adjusting status for the K3 now price wise and the pain in the butte not having a GC and SSN for an UNDETERMINED time [or even have the AOS denied] makes a K3 a only a good standby compared to the CR-1.

Heck when approved for the K3 she can come here and fly back for the CR-1 interview for the money it cost to do AOS.

I went all the way with the K3 but at that time CR-1s were about 6+ months behind the K3.

Not the case at this time anymore.

We went thru hell doing AOS also.

With CR-1 she'd have had her GC and SSN within a couple weeks of arrival.

Not being able to work, get drivers license and LOTS of other things without having a SSN didn't help!

Just my 2 cents!

Friend of mine did both at USEM and didn't have any problems. Only had to take one medical for both also.

K1 denied, K3/K4, CR-1/CR-2, AOS, ROC, Adoption, US citizenship and dual citizenship

If the CR1 case is complete and forwarded to the embassy before the K3 visa, you should be able to request a CR1 interview at the same time instead.

If the CR1 really is about to be complete and you've already paid the $340 IV fee bill and the $70 AOS fee bill, I would definitely do what I could to get a CR1 instead of the K3.
