We've checked alot of online places and those locally but was wondering if anyone here has found a good place to get Gammon and bacon rashers? Kris is dying to get some to have me try :D

Oh what I'd give for some proper bacon. Preferably Danish, in fact :D

Every time I try and describe gammon, my wife says "Oh, you mean Canadian bacon?":lol:

If it comes down to it we may ask his mum to send some stuff over. Who would be the best (and least cost effective shipper) of perishable goods?

We were just talking about what my husband's missing from England and also myself. My husband doesn't eat meat so bacon isn't an issue, more so different crisps, the bread, Gregg's Cheese and Onion pasties, Crumpets, Fish and Chip shop chips, and the juices. In the beginning his parents and brother were sending us different things but it got expensive and I know all the imports are quite expensive here. We were able to find marmite and heinz baked beans. and I figured out how to make good cheese and onion pasties. but we decided that our next trip (Dec 09) We are only eating things we can't get here in the US the whole time.

That's one of the main sites we are looking to use, but we werent' sure if there were any cheaper places and/or if there is a shipper that wouldn't run us so much if his mum sent food over. lol

Where are you in Texas? There are a few British food shops in Houston. This one doesn't sell it online but does have bangers and rashers in their store - British Isles Online.

If you are not near here, there's a couple of websites that I have ordered from before:

Tommy Moloneys

English Pork Pie Company

I've ordered from both and can vouch for their quality. As for shipping, unfortunately they are both located on the East Coast so you have to pay for expedited refrigerated shipping which isn't cheap. I bought $20 worth of items from Tommy Moloney's and paid the same amount in shipping.

But it was worth it (you can even get cheese!):dance::dance:

Anyone know where to get potato farls other than homemade? We're in Oklahoma, but we'd probably do a road trip to stock up on them!

http://tulsa.citysearch.com/profile/834413...ngs_uk_ltd.html

If you guys n gals ever find British food stores in Maryland or surrounding states let me know, I have my poor parents sending me over tottie scone,Discos and other goodies, bought 12 bottles of Irn Bru for $26.00 online to !

I saw Jungle Jim's on the travel channel and it looks great, wonder how far Ohio is from Maryland :D

We're headed to Lancaster, PA this weekend for a possible Irn Bru siting lol A store called Britian's Best. Lancaster isn't so far from the MD border. There are a few Trader Joe's stores in MD:

http://www.traderjoes.com/Attachments/EC_loc.pdf (it'll take a while to load it's a pdf file, but it has all the locations)

I hope this helps!

And a big hug to you ECM! I know it's been a looong while, but we haven't had a lot of time to log onto the forums. Our wee(est) guy just turned 1 year old this past week! He's running around like a mad man keeping me busy lol

There is the Irish Coffe Shop on West Chester Pike in Upper Darby and The Hibernian on Garret Road in Drexel Hill for the Philly peeps
