Good morning ladies and gents! Am I correct that no-one has any news?! ;)

Anyway, I've been wondering about naturalization the other day. When applying for naturalization, would a still pending I751 delay the naturalization process? Common sense tells me it would, as they have to first approve the I751 before naturalization can be granted.

Anyone got any insights on this?

The only news I have been able to glean from the web is that it's 77 and sunny in Dallas and there were no major traffic incidents there this morning, but despite the beautiful day and smooth commute afforded to the TSC workers, our petitions nevertheless remain underneath 10 cases of black cherry Dr. Pepper in the TSC cafeteria storeroom.

Re: naturalization -- as long as one has the requisite three years of permanent residency and is still married, one can go ahead and file for naturalization regardless of whether the I-751 has been approved. The officer that conducts the naturalization interview will then adjudicate the I-751 prior to the interview (assuming it still remains unadjudicated). That is how it is supposed to work in theory according to USCIS, but in practice I have no idea . . . .

Why do I get the sneaky feeling that a Vj'er will have to test this theory.....

Starting to get relaly nervous. I would like to go to Germany for christmas but after my recent airport problem I would like to have my 10 year card issued before that wonderful day... it is frustrating to see people get approved via california when i submitted my application in may!

Timeline:

Sent I-751 to Texas May 11th

Check: May 19th

Fingerprints: June 14th

Touched: June 19th

Nothing since!

Well, I say "theory" but it is USCIS policy -- they put out a policy memo a couple of years ago stating that this was the procedure. I think I've read reports where it has played out like the policy envisions -- your I-751 gets adjudicated before the interview (or even at the interview) and that's that. But there's no doubt that even if your I-751 has not been adjudicated, you can go right ahead and apply for citizenship 90 days before your third anniversary (i.e., a year after you were allowed to petition to have the conditions removed).

Welcome baunzerbrudi!

I guess we are all more or less frustrated. It's not the long wait that is so terrible, it's more the fact that processing seems to have

completely stopped at TSC... Let's hope someone has something positive to report soon.

I've been pretty lucky so far with K1, AOS ... but now I finally get to experience the inefficiency of USCIS

You can add me to the list of TCS list of losers...

filed: some time in February

NOA1: Feb 21 2007

Biometrics: some time in march

Last updated (=touched?): March 19 2007

Since I am past the 6 month + 30 days, I'll try calling some time this week (not like I expect them to do much else than read the case status which I can access online :bonk: ).

My conditional GC expires in April 08 with the 1 year extension, so I am not too worried yet. What difference does another piece of paper make when I already have to travel with a whole filing cabinet ...

Always glad to meet another loser, A_C! Come right in, make yourself at home, and feel free to twitch uncontrollably and mutter obscenities under your breath. We're all family here.

BTW, I'm taking the liberty of plugging in actual guesstimate dates for your filing and the bios.

Well, not that I'm hoping you threw away $100, but I do hope that he's wrong about the processing times.

Gathering from the experiences of VJers, they just dead stopped issuing approvals at the end of June -- just about when they started transferring new I-751s to CSC. (Coincidence? I THINK NOT!) They had been running a bit over five months from NOA1 to approval at that time.

Now they're at eight months and counting, so if it stays like this until January, your attorney will be right.

Me, I'm looking at the N-400 instructions to make sure we're ready to file for naturalization in April. My wife has to do a bit of work for this one. Nothing like overpreparation, so her word for the day is "perspicacity" and her U.S. history lesson is Shay's Rebellion.
