Here is the reply to my service request that I received a few weeks ago.

Request was put in on Sept 25, reply is dated Oct 23.

The status of this service request is:

Based on your request we researched the status of this case. We are actively processing this case. However, we have to perform additional review on this case and this has caused a longer processing time. If you do not receive a decision or other notice of action from us within 6 month of this letter, please call customer service at the number provided below.

....

6 months from the date it was sent is EXACTLY when my 1 year extension of the GC is expiring

"additional review" ... hm, that doesn't sound good. I think I'll start gathering info and contact a senator to look into it after the holidays. :help:

Sounds fishy to me. You could translate the "additional review" sentence as "This case is still sitting in the dog-eared cardboard box in the janitorial closet of the basement mens room with the other I-751 petitions from you losers and we will get to it when we darn well feel like it."

Meh

I'm not sure if I have mentioned this before, so if I have I apologize. When my wife and I went into the Atlanta office for her two year green card interview I noticed something while the nice lady was filling in the blanks on her computer concerning our case. They had all of the cases in these individual folders (although the folders looked the same) and she had many....many files sitting on the desk behind her.

Trying to lighten the mood I jokingly asked if those were all the cases she had to go through today. She nicely said no, one day last week their entire computer system went down for a day. She continued by saying that each officer has a set/preplanned case load to accomplish every day. Her 8 hour shift allowed her to only interview those needed and enter the info into the computer system.

She stated that since they would not approve O/T for her or anyone in the department that she was not sure when she would get to enter the other cases into the system since her days were always filled to the rim.

Would it matter? Their official processing times are a straight out lie anyway... they are meaningless.

They are at best off by about two months. Why give yourself false hope? Based on your NOA1, I wouldn't expect to be approved before the end of April. I don't expect to be approved before the middle of March.

Attention: All VJ'ers who contacted their senators

I am wondering if anyone has heard from their senators regarding the status of their cases?

My senator said that my file was going to be "dealt with by hand" the week of December 3.

Well, it's now Dec 19 and my file hasn't been touched since last May.

Anyone else?

WHATS AN APPROVAL MEAN????? I checked USCIS website, they have deleted that word.

Serious note, some of us from another thread have contacted Reps and Senators, some have had action, some not. We shall see after the new year or no?

Hang in there but god, what a mess the system is.

Cheers

Susie

Hey Cassie, how did you weather the storm/lack of power?

We hunkered down for the first couple of days with friends who had a gas cooktop on their stove and a gas fireplace. We then stayed for two nights with friends who got their power back pretty quickly. It was pretty bad -- I was so desperate to get warm (our house dipped down to 52 degrees at one point) that I went to work early (for some unknown reason, they never lost power, go figure) and cranked up the heat. Thankfully our power came back last Thursday, because we were running out of clean clothes -- I had never been so grateful to do laundry in my life! Our internet wasn't restored until last night.

The sad thing is, there are still many households without power -- I don't know how they are doing it honestly. Thankfully, the temperatures have risen a bit.
