Police certificate translation

Hi, I'll have my interview in Italy and I'll have to bring a German police certificate, I know that it will have to be translated, my question is:

Can I translated myself and certify that I know enough german or does it need to be officialy translated? If so from any legal translator or by the german embassy/consulate?

Police Reports do not need to be translated. Documents submitted in German to the US Consulate in Germany do not need to be translated, as German is the native language of Germany.

This happened to Claudeth in Manila. what she did was go to the German embassy and they gave her some places that were authorized to translate the certificate. worked perfectly. good luck

Police Reports do not need to be translated. Documents submitted in German to the US Consulate in Germany do not need to be translated, as German is the native language of Germany.

While that may be so, German is not the local language in Italy, where the document will be submitted. In some countries, such documents indeed require certified translation to English, so the OP will need an answer that relates to Italy specifically.

I sent an e-mail to the consulate and ask them. I just hope I can translate it myself, there is not much to translate anyway - it just says nothing!

FYI, the consulate replied as follows:

All certificates in a language other than English or Italian need an official sworn translation.

To follow up on this topic, I contacted the German embassy and they can translate the document into italian (local language) for only 20 Euros. Official and way cheaper than I thought!
