CR-1 Question for those far down the path

Today I called the NVC just to check on things. I was told they have received, processed and approved the I-864 and supporting documents. Next week they will send me (as Agent of Choice for my wife) the actual visa application which I assume to be the DS-230. I assume this needs to be completed, signed and sent back. Fortunately I had the foresight to have my wife sign this form when I was with her last month, so there will be no delays getting her signature.

My question: After returning the DS-230, what is the next step in the process? How close are we?

In our case, it took about 2 weeks after the NVC recieved our DS-230 for them to process it and send it over to the US embassy in London, another week or so for London to process the paperwork and assign me an interview, the interview was assigned for approx 6 weeks away (I'm going by a little guesswork as I don't have the info in front of me and I desperately need to update my timeline) .

So all in all after sending off the DS-230 around another couple of months for an interview, although the US embassy in China may well differ from the London embassy in how quickly it processes applications.

I hope that helps some

Sarah

Thank you both for your responses. So, we are seeing some light at the end of the tunnel. I do think things move more slowly in China for numerous reasons....but the next step after I return the DS-230 is the interview date is set? That is great news!
