I'm sure the bread with the cookies would work.

Maybe our resident chef can let us know which ingredients or lack thereof would cause them to be crunchy instead of chewy.

Could also be baking time or temp perhaps.

Allah tries his chosen people through many hardships, but those who persevere through adversity, surrendering themselves before the will of Allah, shall be blessed with a superb reward.

-The Prophet Muhammad (SAW), as reported by Anas bin Malik

A time will come when the sky is torn apart; when the stars scatter, and the ocean drains away; and when the graves are tossed about, and laid open. At that time every man will be told what he has done, and what he has failed to do; and every woman will be told what she has done, and what she has failed to do.

-Qur'an, Al-Infitar, Surah 82:1-5

how do you get peanut butter cookies to come out chewy?? mine always come out crunchy and crumbly (which is still delcious, but i prefer chewy).

Are you putting enough oil into your mix? Maybe up it a little more.

Try putting a piece of sandwich style bread in the storage container with the cookies. This usually makes them softer and chewy. It's worked with other cookies I've made so I'm sure it would work with PB cookies, too.

Yep! I actually did this when I was shipping cookies to Khallid when he was still in Egypt :star:

"the best recipe" cookbook from cooks illustrated has a great PB cookie recipe. if you can find a link to it online get the recipe. if not, i'll get it from my book and write it for you.

the bread also works well in a container of brown sugar to keep it from turning into a solid block!

I've done the bread in the sugar thing, i never thought to do it for cookies  I guess i've just always followed recipes and wondered why my peanut butter cookies aren't chewy (my chocolate chip ones are!). Cooking obviously does not come naturally to me.

Call me crazy but I like my pb cookies crisp, and I like my toll house cookies chewy............

BUT

both are NO GOOD without a tall cold glass of milk!

I have a Betty Crocker cookie recipe book but I don't feel like haulin it open right now melly but I do promise to write down the recipe here when I get a second.

On a side note, if anyone has a CVS near them, the store brand cookies, Divine, that have the strawberry creme in the middle rock my world as well. In fact my oldest daughter told my youngest, "you know .... they're called Divine and I totally think it's 'cause they are from God!!!"

(she gets excited over cookies toooo!!! :innocent: )
